No Refund from Tesco Internet Phone

We received a refund and cash as an apology. "Not a lot".
It cost TESCO some OTELO fees as well.
As long as the cheque doesn't bounce!0 -
To conclude my own version of this sorry tale from above, and to act possibly as a guide to others, I have now (finally!) received my cheque from Tesco (thanks to the intervention from Otelo). They initially offered a £30 goodwill payment, but this was on the basis of £15 of 'moneycards' allegedly already sent, but which I had never received (or accepted in lieu of a cash refund) -- see similar stories above. I therefore rejected the settlement, and the Ombudsman from Otelo eventually reviewed the case and upped it to £45. No apology yet, but I presume that will come separately. If it does not, since it was part of the agreed settlement, I will report back to Otelo that their decision has not been complied with and have them reopen the case.
I wish everyone else similar 'luck', if we can call it that. Since money is the only thing Tesco understands, let's ensure they pay every penny.0 -
Well, the cheque didn't bounce, and the cash is in my account.
Our original refund was for £11.05.
Eventually TESCO paid us £60 (£40 'inconvenience' and £20 refund) via Otelo, and (allegedly) had to pay an Otelo / OFCOM fee of £350, minimum.
It shows that you need something like an ombudsman to work on your behalf (present UK administration please note), because TESCO was taking absolutely ZERO notice of me (a mere customer).
It also shows that the customer has to be aware of what's going on.
Thanks to this (and other) web-sites, we are more empowered now than ever.
My advice?
If you are in the right, persevere, politely but firmly.
Tell the truth, and keep meticulous records from the start.
Good luck to anyone dealing with TESCO Customer Services.0 -
Well done, you did better than the rest of us in the end.
I just saw a pile of the £4.99 headsets on sale in my local Tesco as if TIP was still running. complete with CD and £2.50 voucher. Obviously on sale in error...just mentioning it in case anyone feels like taking them on all over again ;-)0 -
It could be that the item to which you refer could be something to do with (yet) another TESCO special deal.
I did actually visit a TESCO store a few days ago. There were one or two rather suspect articles on sale.
I have recovered from my visit. My medication is obviously working.
I have spent my £60 somewhere else.
To anyone contemplating a telephony deal with TESCO, I would advise putting OFCOM or OTELO on your speed-dial.
I did. It saved a lot of time.0
