Can I pull up a chair and join the others who are feeling a bit sad/glum/miserable ?
*passes round virtual OS HM wine/softdrinks *
For the 3rd time in 4 months the car has decided it doesn't feel like doing anything, heaven knows how much this will cost this time.(done starter motor and exhaust already this year)
I've always said I would take a car maintainence (sp?) course, in the top 10 of my tinkerbelluk stylee acheivements will be just that.

I wouldn't mind if they had a teenager but they don't - it's two over fifties. I just wish I had dd here to play her flute, ds his cello and oh the piano - that would show them. Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,

Where did the Summer go? Sigh.
Well, today has been a work day, but also been fairly productive on the OS front ....
2 lasagnes made (one for the freezer, one for tomorrow), spag bol for dinner tonight (yup, I dug the SC out :rotfl: ).
A bin bag of paper shredded.
Pile of paper bricks made ... mind you, in this weather they'll take an age to dry but hey.
And ... finally ... elderberry wine being made
So, now I am going to hoover my office floor, watch Emmerdale and finish this blasted curtain I started about 3wks ago, but keep losing interest in! Not helped by stupidly allowing MIL to convert metric in to imperial ... and got it wrong .. and stupidly, stupidly .... didn't check before making the curtain. D'oh.
((hugs)) to all feeling under-the-weather / blue - this weather just makes me want to curl up under the duvet and sleep ... so I feel that this Winter I am going to attempt to be positive and make lots of small to-do lists which are easily achievable, rather than the mountainous ones which never get done and just depress me further.
PurplePrincess - bluntly, I think you're doing an amazing job keeping everything together :T . Don't beat yourself up over your exams, I've been there, done that with my A-levels (many many moons ago), had to re-sit a year, but now got my degree and a good job. It all sorts itself out in the end, and sometimes for the better. Your bro - hmmm, bluntly (I'm in to blunt tonight, aren't I, oops), I'd let him go on his own.
Oops, Emmerdale is going to be half over .. do they repeat it later on Freeview?GC - March 2024 -0 -
Good evening everyone,
(((HUGS)))purpleprncess, you really are having a day of it, i think you have been doing amazingly!!!
Kaz - had to freeze some of those welsh cakes to stop me eating them all!!!! Children have just tried them too, so i dont think the ones left are going to be there much longer either!!!!!
Zed - i agree, where is our summer!!!!!
Well, just back from DSs football match, all us mums sat there ready for the match when the heavens opened!!!! luckily the boys did us proud and won 2 -1, and DS scored the first goal, so very proud of him!!!!
Back home, and DD and i just had cheese and tomato on toast for our dinner (DS had a sandwich, he doesnt like cheese) we are all ready for bed (ive had to get my dressing gown out, its so cold) and now, oh joy, we are watching more football (DSs team in the champions league).
Right, im going to do my paid2clicks, have a lovely evening everyone

Just wanted to say thanks for all of the warm welcomes back. After having a quick look at todays thread, hugs to those who are having a bad day. Have finished work until begining of September, as I'm on holiday. Need to start sorting out stuff to take. Not sure if it will be T-Shirts and suncream or jumpers and coats!:D. We have had lots of Thunder & Lightening, and my son thinks its a giant moving the furniture aroun in the sky!
Have a good evening all...PowieA woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.:D0 -
This has to be the friendliest forum on the web. (I mean it!) Thanks for your welcomes frugaljo, elona, penelope penguin, icemaiden, catowen, welshlassie, thriftmonster, vickyA, kazonline, snoozer, tootles, mimiF and twink and anyone else I have missed.
Hello to madmel, shellybee and tweegirl.
Penelope Penguin and JockettUK, DD's friend is moving from Preston to Skipton. Not easy to get to - two changes of train. They can e-mail each other though, so I think that will help lots.
Hester, sorry to hear of your DS's friend. It is always tragic to lose someone so young. I'm sure you will be able to offer DS all the support he needs.
TinkerbellUK, well done. I wish I could get myself energised enough to get a real grip on things at home.
Purple Princess, bad luck on the exams front and with your brother. You seem to have a lot on your plate right now. :grouphug:
As for our day out to York. The weather was perfect, couldn't have asked for better and DS, DD and DD's best friend all had a great time. However, I managed to spend £135    Can't believe one day out cost this much. The next few months will be truly OS money saving to make up for that. Will be looking for lots of inspiration from you very kind ladies."Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

Everything I had planned has gone to pot today - except for taking the boys swimming - thankfully managed that at last (even if DS1 nearly put pay to that by forgetting a towel - made them share).
We did get to Clarks for shoes - but they tried to fob me off with a pair size 6 1/2 for DS 2 even though his toes were virtually touching the ends, and last years were a size 6. There's no way I'm paying nearly £40 for shoes that will be grown out of in weeks. I know clarks aren't the cheapest, but for school I do find them the best value - every other pair we've tried have fallen to pieces within a month.
As a result I'll be on the phone tomorrow calling the various clarks stores trying to find out whether they've anything suitable in his size. Pet hate about Clarkes is that you can't see the prices of the shoes. Of the six pairs the boys liked on the display only one had a price on it.
Right, I need to attempt to tackle this mess I call home.
Hugs to all,
Kaz x
PS - Catowen, while I was stressed earlier I was glad I'd double wrapped my welsh cakes in foil as since discovering that they are nice semi frozen (and lush defrosted in the micro) they have become ever so tempting. In fact I can hear them calling now.....January '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far)
Someone burst my bubble and I lost the plot so no idea what I spent now...Other Jan :- Petrol £20.41, Clothes £8.50, House £3.I will try to work it out.
