Vegetables aren't food. Vegetables are what food eats...
The others on the team OH is working with are very much of that attitude, they go into semi-shock when they hear we've had meat free meals
Glad to hear the walkings going well Elantan. I'm currently doing fast walking on the treadmill, it sounds like I need to research how to run too, thanks for the info.
Sunday spent 7.80 Euros for the train tickets to Schiedam, saw the tallest windmills in the Netherlands, it is a very nice town too. Went on a Sunday morning so very quiet. Only walked a few kms, but was nice after the longer walk the day before.
Succombed to temptation and had some bread yesterday, so was superslug todayHad to really force myself to go out for the morning walk, and it was even worse getting to the fitness room, but it was my own fault
No bread today, so hopefully tomorrow will be better
Hope you manage to sort the shoulder/back problems out Elantan.0 -
seee you sound like you have a very exciting life ... getting to visit loads of places and see wonderful things ... do you find that bread has that much of an effect on you ? i will need to give that one some thought i think ... i eat quite a bit of bread especially when i cant be bothered to eat right ...
what i did find out about running the other day was you are not meant to start on the tips of your feet (which i was told you have to) ... i had been trying this type of running for a wee while and it did hurt ... i thought i just wasnt do it right .... now i know that eh it hurt for a reason el duh ...
went for a walk yesterday 6 miles good walk ... managed three relatively big hills and i didnt swear or have to stop on them to get my breath back ... so i must be getting fitter if only slightly
today i have the hospital so i need to get ready for that ...
hope your all ok0 -
good luck at the hospital EL and fantastic news on the walks you are doing great0

Hi Elantan, it isn't that exciting, I'm here mainly so that I can be with OH. Some places with weekly commutes he's so tired at weekends he has no energy to actually enjoy the weekend, especially if he gets back very late Friday night and sometimes has to travel back after lunch on Sunday or up at 3 or 4am on Monday. It's not a holiday, so sightseeing things are very low budget, more to just get out of the hotel to relieve the boredom, and quite often we're in very boring hotels in commuter/commercial areas so no pretty things to see. But if there is something nice reasonably near we do try to get there, it's a waste not to take advantage. The main perk here is the hotel having a fitness room
If I have bread/wheat I turn into 'superslug', no energy for anything and constantly on the gaviscon too. OH used to spot when I'd not resisted the temptation of bread or cakes by how sluggish I was and used to ask what I'd been eatingAs soon as I stop within a day or 2 the energy levels come back.
Hope the hospital went well yesterday Elantan and well done on carrying on with the walking.
Sticking to the weekday afternoon fitness session, hoping later next week to try upping from the very fast walking to running on the treadmill, I'm practically running at the moment anyway so not much of a step up as I've been increasing the walking speed each day. Also increased the resistance and distance on the rowing. Other ab exercises and lightweights about the same though.
Weather forecasts not too good here, but might try to drive to the seaside as it should only be a 20 minute drive away on Saturday as it might blow the cobwebs away. But it will depend on the weather.
Hope you have a good weekend0 -
Hi Elantan,
Well we did make it to the seaside yesterday, very windy with it straight off the north sea. There was a sand sculpture competition with an aliens theme which was quite good. We'd longed for fish & chips, but couldn't even find anywhere for mayo et fritesEnded up with a veggie spring roll from a stall when we got back, very nice, with asking for the veggie ones you have to wait but they cook them fresh
Completed week 2 of the weekday fitness room sessions. Ended up running half the time on the treadmill, so set myself the 0 to 5k challenge to be completed by Christmas. The Bupa website has what looks like a good training plan, so might give that one a try. Are you using one of the training plans?
Todays an admin day, but will include a walk at some point just to stretch the legs. Most evenings it's a 1 or 2k round trip just to find somewhere to eat, so that at least burns some calories and increases the activity level.
Hope you're enjoying your weekend.0 -
hi all ... well it has been rather manic here in elantan world ... we have done quite a bit of hill walking conic hill, culter fell and chatelherault but we have also been spending time in the garden .. getting the poly tunnel sorted for next year moving earth to the side of the garden so that we can even it up .. . and weeding ... oh weeding how much fun can a person have ...
hubby had recognised (once again) that he is not in control of his alcohol consumption and has agreed to try and get some control over it for the sake of our marriage ... but it has been hard going and both of us are unsure whether we can weather this storm together or not ... were going to give it a till january or so then take it from there .... then i have had to take hubby twice to the hospital due to chest pains ... he fell whilst drunk and hurt himself .... he has damaged some intercostal muscles and they will take a while to heal
went to the hospital and i have to have further investigations done but that will happen soon enough
basically i have not had a minute to myself and am feeling slightly stressed about alot of things (some i dont feel comfortable sharing ) but i will be back hopefully soon
hope you are all well0 -

There are plenty of people out there whose lives revolve around weed...hubby had recognised (once again)
Is this a true LBM this time do you think?that he is not in control of his alcohol consumption and has agreed to try and get some control over it for the sake of our marriage ... but it has been hard going and both of us are unsure whether we can weather this storm together or not ...

At least they will be a day-to-day reminder of what he shouldn't be doing...went to the hospital and i have to have further investigations done but that will happen soon enough

thanks for the much needed hugs z ... he says this time it is different ... but i dont need to tell anyone here i have been here many many times before .... i truthfully hope it is ... but somehow i wont be surprised if it is another lip service to me ... he didnt even talk about it till i told him we were finished ... that makes me think he is doing it for me and not him which is the wrong reason to do it ... but he says (and it is true) he has been feeling for the last wee while that he isnt fit to drink as much anymore and he feels he needs to get in control .. admittedly he has said quite often recently how he has had enough and how he knows he has a problem and wants to change ... but it wasnt till i told him we were finished that he said ... i think i need to go get help
i think it will take time ... i have agreed to give it till the middle of january to see i dont want to give up on nearly 23 years of life together ... but i also know that i will not allow my life to be ruined by someone elses drinking ....0 -
nice to see you about El but sorry you are going through all this with your DH.I do hope that you can sort it out.0
