Swapping hotels/cities today, but hoping to get some exercise walking/exploring the current town before moving this afternoon. Unfortunately having awful blister problems, as soon as I get one lot healed I get another mass of them. I'm becoming an expert at how to use plasters etc to cover the damage and minimise it worsening :o

It's not your shoes/socks is it?

What is the best thing for blisters and what's the best way to avoid them ...

Deal with them early. As soon as you feel a warm spot, get your shoes off and get it dealt with. The army used to rub surgical spirit on the soldiers' feet to get them to toughen up quicker, but knowing the health scares these days, that probably doubles your chances of you growing 2 heads or something...

No change in shoes/socks, other than some which were too big when I lost weight and went down half a shoe size, ones too big went to the charity shop asap. I think it's just skin in general has taken a temperamental turn, so over reacting to things, so I think it's making the skin more sensitive and maybe resulting in it seeming more delicate.

No change in detergents either. Admittedly it's been worse in the time after getting back in England after April, so maybe water softness differences haven't helped. Now in Holland, so maybe my skin will prefer the water here :o

Only one other thought, in England only had a shower where we stayed, I think it's more difficult to look after feet properly if you don't had a bath, flamingo poses on one leg are OK for flamingos :D

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Did 7 miles today .... But they were much harder than the 10 the other day ... Up and down hills all the way and rough terrain so ... This is good for training me thinks

Well done on the 7 miles Elantan. Trying to get the walking up in distance, but the blisters are a problem!!! Also Holland is very flat, so you don't get the uphill/downhill bits you need, will see if there are stairs I can use at the hotel, but sometimes they are fire exit only and alarmed in some hotels. Anyway there's a fitness room, so hopefully that will help compensate once I work out how some of the instruments of torture work :D

yeah see it must be hard for you as well to try and keep on top of things if you are always changing location and staying in hotels ....

thanks taxi i am trying ... not always succeeding but always trying ...

went for a run today ... i think i need to do something about this breathing ... i dont think i am doing it right .... and i am really struggling for a breath still ... i am the same on hills when i go walking ... there must be a proper way to breathe ...

have decided to try and do the couch to 5k running training programme shortly ... maybe starting next week by then i should be totally over my chest infection

Well done Elantan on the run. Do get the cough checked out if it lingers too long.

I braved the hotel fitness room, at 14:30 it was empty, so not too embarrased other than when a cleaner popped in to check it didn't need tidying. Quite enjoyed it actually, but one of the machines was difficult to work out, so spent more time on the others to compensate, will try it again tomorrow though.

Plan is minimum 30 mins per day mon-fri, building up time and intensity on the machines gradually. Hope it will tone the blubber, as well as hopefully burning some calories.

that is quite some plan see ... let me know how it goes ... i need to get back to the gym ... wonder if i should maybe try running there?

the run was ok the lungs still working but i am struggling ... i feel as if i am not filling my lungs with every breath ... and when i stop i have to sit down ... and that is only running about 100 mtrs (managed about 3 of them today... although i couldve went on ... today my friends sore ankle couldnt manage it ... usually however it is me we have to stop for ).... so i am gonna try couch to 5k and see if that works ...

tomorrow is body balance and might try and squeeze in another 100 mtrs or so

so i walked 5/6 miles yesterday ... we walked from blantyre to bothwell castle lovely walk with great people as always ... i am thinking about maybe hiring a treadmill to help with my running training... i am only getting to go for a run twice a week it takes 30 mins to get there 30 mins to get back and i run for 3x90seconds roughly (and walk a bit as well) i do that on a monday and a friday ... so i was thinking if i had a treadmill i might be able to strengthen my lungs again ... and get more practise in even if i did 3x90 each day on the treadmill it would be alot more than what i am currently doing and it should help me increase my length ... am not too interested in increasing speed just now (i am waddling lol) but i would like to build up my time so that i can start running for maybe 4x150seconds or something ... then slowly build that up ... also the 30 mins there and the 30 mins back costs in diesel so i would rather be going the 30 mins and doing more ... if that makes sense

debt wise .. (i spose i should mention it every now and then) we are well into the overdraft again ... hubby and i havnt had that time to brain storm since i mentioned it ... we have been busy and i want us to have peace and quiet when we do brain storm ...

so we will need to do that sooner rather than later
