today was running day ... i really love running ... the girl i am running with is currently nursing an injured ankle so we are going very easy ... only did a few hundred meters (not all at once either) ... i wanted to stretch myself and see how far i could go till my lungs felt like they were gonna burst .... and then push it a bit more ...
but i am also trying to get the technique right as i have been told i have it wrong ... who wouldve thought that there was a right and wrong way to run ? you would think you just put one foot in front of the other and go for it wouldnt you ... but no it appears you run from the ball of your foot to the heel ... mmmm i run from the heel to the ball which causes shin splints ... i dont want shin splints ... so i am trying to spend my time getting my technique right then hopefully build it from there ... but i am soooo impatient
i went to a vegetarian restuarant today as well ... one in glasgow ... apparently the best one in glasgow ... well if thats the best then ... veggies in glasgow are doomed ... but on the plus side we walked up a few hills (anyone that knows glasgow buchanan street) now i normally walk up that street and need to stop at a few shops not to see what they sell but to get my breath back (for me it is kinda steep) today no probs at all ok i was outa breath but i didnt need to stop infact i couldve went on kinda like the walk i did on wednesday i wanted to carry on up those hills that i had to stop three times on the last time i did them .... i am not fit yet i know i am not fit yet ... but i am fitter and i am loving it0 -
How's the breathing and exercise today Elantan?
I'm managing to stick to the plan, actually managed to get upto 45 mins, a mixture of the machines (treadmill, rowing and crosstrainer), some mat work on abs, general exercises and a little bit of weights for the bingo wings!!! Weekend is time off to let muscles recover, although OH has said he might give it a go at the weekend, so would have to keep him company. Subject to weather we're catching the train to Amsterdam, and going to explore on foot, so will hopefully burn the calories that way.
I did think about trying Shred in the hotel room, but we're above conference rooms, and I know what it sounds like just when they're vacuuming the room above ours, I can't imagine what they'd think of me doing the jumping jacks :rotfl::rotfl:
Have a good weekend
wow 45 mins now that is great ... have you increased that by much? have heard amsterdam has hills ... if so you will deff burn the calories and get the respiritory up (good luck on that one ... i'm still known as not another f*****g hill el)
shred shred shred ... what can i say .... it works of that there is no doubt ... i however dont think i can do it ... i tried it but my shoulder just wont take the preassure ... you have to do press ups you have to do star jumps you have to lift weights ... i tried and my shoulder really hurt and i dont want to wreck it ... until i did shred i actually thought my shoulder was great ... then i realised that no it isnt its knackered and might always be that way ... i used to be able to lift 35 kgs on the shoulder weights (had alot of upper body strength for a woman ... all the rock climbing no doubt) but the last time i was at the gym i struggled with 10kgs ... and when i went swimming i got this awful pain in the right side of my chest right at the muscle that connects to the shoulder ... ahh well
just think those in the hotels might think you are up to something if you do the shred wink wink0 -

You should greet hills with joy in your soul as you know it will make the people around you paranoid and suspicious. And that's a priceless reaction...shred shred shred ... what can i say .... it works of that there is no doubt ... i however dont think i can do it ... i tried it but my shoulder just wont take the preassure ... you have to do press ups you have to do star jumps you have to lift weights ... i tried and my shoulder really hurt and i dont want to wreck it ... until i did shred i actually thought my shoulder was great ... then i realised that no it isnt its knackered and might always be that way ... i used to be able to lift 35 kgs on the shoulder weights (had alot of upper body strength for a woman ... all the rock climbing no doubt) but the last time i was at the gym i struggled with 10kgs ... and when i went swimming i got this awful pain in the right side of my chest right at the muscle that connects to the shoulder ... ahh well
Have you seen someone about it? It may just be a bit out of the joint, or something simple like that.just think those in the hotels might think you are up to something if you do the shred wink wink

Provided it's not likely to drop off, then the hospital will be happy with it. Try a chiropractor or something similar. They can work on it and get a better range of movement from it, or recommend someone who can.

Elantan with the swimming is it all the strokes or just one that causes the problem, it's a pity to miss out on swimming.
With Shred you don't have to use weights unless you want to either.
Dr's are now into healthy lifestyle to aid longterm health and save the NHS money. So if it's causing problems restricting your exercise and activities, go back and ask for another referal, and give a list of the reasons why it's a problem (write down the list if necessary).
I've got to push for a bone density scan next time at the dr's. I have atrocious sense of balance, but want to try some new activites, but know that at times BMI has been low for years, plus ageing effects so bone density could be low. I'm currently wary of trying some activites as it's a matter of when I fall not if!!!!!!!!! I did ask once, but was sorting other things out, so didn't push enough - will try to do better next time
Change of plans here. OH was tired, so just walked around the local town (we think we did about 10kms). Also looks like the new project is going to be in a different town to the one envisaged (all my mse research is out of the window), so Amsterdam will be closer. So plans are to visit places that will be further away from the new town after moving - makes sightseeing cheaper
. Weather is super
Plan for tomorrow is to catch a cheap local train to a local town with nice architecture and lots of windmills.0 -
Forgot on the veggie front, sorry to hear the Glasgow experience wasn't good. Do you like chinese and indian? We tend to find that some have lots of veggie options, with indian we've found that one's that don't do veggie main courses will do larger versions of the starters as main courses if you ask e.g. dahls or stuffed peppers. Had a super tofu with chinese veggies this week.
With OH's work travelling veggie restaurants tend to be few and far between. So we have ended up being semi-veggie, especially as I have a wheat/gluten problem, so all pasta/pizza's etc are out, it's amazing how many places the veggie option is a pasta dish0 -
yeah i love chinese and indian ... i try to badger hubby into making me chinese as often as i can but he doesnt bite often ... he reckons if there is no meat in it then it aint food lol
think i will deff sit down with my therapist ( friends who is qualified in massage etc) and figure out what movements exactly i cant do and how my back looks when i out my arm in certain positions ... then go to the drs and see what he has to say thanks
sunday i did a 7.5 mile walk around the lanark circular i really enjoyed it and wore my new boots as well ... then today i went for a wee run before going to my bed for a well deserved sleep and have just got up need to have a shower and head back out to work ... last one tonight though so not too bad0 -
