    Afternoon Diary :)
Have heard from the insurers that they will offer me £2400 for my car, which I'm pretty pleased with as it's £400 more than I thought. Am still considering trying to haggle a bit extra though. This means that as long as my bonus is at least £1300 after tax we won't have taken anything out of our house deposit fund (which isn't ours really as FIL gave it to us specifically for a house deposit) and will only have added 1-2 months to our DFD.

Up and about early this morning as we're off to test drive some cars. Now that we've sorted out the money side I'm actually quite excited :j:
No other plans for the weekend, other than trying to get on top of the housework. Now i know there's no quick fix for my back, I really can't let it all pile up any more :o Our kitchen floor makes me feel like this

Just back from the car buying trip, we've gone for an 05 polo with only 31000ish on the clock. Pretty pleased with it, it's a nice drive at a good price. going back to collect it on Tuesday. Sat down to watch the rugby now, can't believe how well we're playing!

Curses! DH's car broke down this morning! Timing belt came off, did a load of damage, repairs will be around £600!!! Just what we didn't need on top of having to replace my car. I'm so thankful I found MSE last year, or we'd have been totally screwed by this. As it is we'll be able to manage, but it will have to go on credit :( So that's more time added to our DFD.

I'm off to the hospital this afternoon for my MRI scan and follow up meeting with the consultant. Hopefully I'll have a firm diagnosis and treatment plan after that, although *touch wood* my back's been a lot better the last 3-4 days, hardly any pain at all.

DH's Focus will be in the garage until later this week, but we're going to pick up the new Polo at lunchtime. Had to sort out insurance last night, it's been a bit of a nightmare. The dealership we've bought it from gave us a code to get 7 days free insurance, which we wanted to use as the insurance of the woman that hit DH STILL haven't admitted liability , so I've lost my NCB until they do. We were hoping that with a week's free insurance, it would be sorted by the time we had to buy the actual insurance. Sadly we have too many claims to get the free insurance, even though 2 of them are people just driving into us, so I had pay for my insurance with no NCB, £640, which is double what I paid last year  I'm hoping I'll be able to negotiate a refund when the other company admit liability and my 4 years NCB is restored. Because I only had 3 years last time I renewed, I couldn't protect it, but I certainly will be now!
Better get on with some work, since I'm leaving at lunchtime :o

From my MRI scan consultant has diagnosed a slight annular tear in one of my discs. It's so tiny I could barely see it on the scan. Treatment plan is to basically leave it alone, as physio has made it feel worse, and to work on core strength/stability which will help it heal itself. Have to ring Bupa later and see if they'll cover individual pilates sessions at my physio practice, which consultant recommended. If the pain gets worse, or more frequent, I can go back to see consultant and talk about having a cortizone injection into the area to calm the inflammation, but he wants to try the non-invasive options before sticking a big needle into my spine

Feeling quite positive now I know there's not a serious problem, hopefully with lots of swimming and pilates I can manage this myself, although he did say it will take up to 18 months to heal completely.

    Morning

It must be a massive relief to finally know what is causing the pain. I hope the pilates sessions are covered and that you heal quickly x

    Morning Diary,
Nowt to report really. We've got a webcast update thingy from the chief R&D officer this afternoon, we have them pretty regularly, but this one seems to be different. we only got 24 hours notice (normally several weeks of reminder emails about them) and have since had emails from the head of our department and the head of site telling us it's important to go, and stating that leadership team members will be available for Q&A afterwards. This is unusual, and seems slightly ominous, hope it's not going to be worrying/bad news :( it's about 2 years since the last reshuffle, so we're about due another one by our normal company standards :rotfl:

DH went out last night with people from work to play poker at a casino, £30 to buy into the game, and £20 for dinner :( Not impressed as he only told me at lunchtime he was going, and came 9th out of 11 in the poker so lost all his money as only the top 3 get prizes!

Nothing major at yesterday's webcast *phew* a bit of reshuffling in another part of R&D, but no major job losses.
Have just been very naughty and ordered a pair of knee high boots from the Debenhams sale. They were half price (£38.50) and they only had them left in my size, so I went for it. Free delivery and I can return them to the debenhams in town if they don't fit. I've been looking for some black boots for ages, so I'll be chuffed if they fit. Also bought a pretty day dress, which I have no excuse for except that my wardrobe is only half overhauled, and I want nice things to wear to work :o It's going to be an expensive month, as I have my sister's hen night in 2 weeks. Luckily they've found a super cheap spa day for the Friday, only £25, and I've decided to go home after the dinner on the Saturday rather than going out clubbing, so that should save me a bit. Hoping to go and see my new neice/nephew when the baby arrives, and that's up in Yorkshire so we'll need a few extra tanks of petrol etc though hopefully we can stay with DH's uncle. Plus the 6 nations super saturday is the weekend before my next payday, and we always go to the pub for the whole day and then out for curry, so that's 3 weekends out of 4 with spendy plans in them!

So no more shopping for me until next month, when I'll have to buy something to wear to my sister's wedding in April, and a wedding present. (and a new hat if DH lets me get away with it :rotfl:)

Good news! DH just emailed to say he's getting a 2k payrise as of 1st March :jApparently he's one of the only ones in his department to get one, and it's because he's worked so hard this year. :D That sort of makes up for all the late evenings and working at weekends. :o
Should mean an extra £100 a month towards the snowball, so that's good news.
