  • Having a bit of an issue with our new letting agents, they have so many rules about when you have to pay etc. They've just rung me and said that as I hadn't called to pay the deposit balance etc by card, they're expecting me to bring it in cash on Tuesday! I was planning to just pay by debit card when I went to get the keys, but acording to them the card payment takes 3 days to clear to their account, so I needed to pay it by today. No way they could have told me this before today?!

Anyone know if there's a limit to how much cash you can withdraw over the counter at the bank? I need to get the deposit balance and rent = £1525, plus £300 to pay the removers on Wednesday.

    Hi Jules,

Looks like you got a lot done this week, here's hoping the move goes as smoothly as possible :)

As far as I know, there is no 'limit' to what you can take out over the counter, I withdrew £4,000 once to buy a car . Just make sure you have ID with you and I can't see it being a problem.

Nice of MIl to buy your new bedframe too, I think OH's mum gave him some money when we moved in but I have no idea what it went on :rotfl:

Hi Jody, thanks for that :) I rang the branch to check and they've made me an appointment to go in and collect the cash. Will then go straight to letting agents and get rid if it!
We went back to the bed shop tonight and bought our new bed :j It's a beautiful dark brown real leather sleigh bed with drawers built into the frame, I love it :D
DH grandma rang last night and said she wad sending all her grandchildren £100 "to keep it away from the taxman", so in total we'll only have to put £100 towards the bed ourselves. That means that we've spent £385 on a bed and mattress, and our original budget was £200-300 for a new mattress. Little bit over, but I'm so chuffed with it. All we have to do now us save up for a matching set of bedroom furniture:rotfl:

    Morning Diary :)
Just up and watching a bit of telly before getting on with the tidying and cleaning mission.
Weighed in this morning, 14st8.75lb :j weightloss = 4.25/42lb. My sister booked her wedding this week, 9th April next year. I'd really like to have lost all/most of this weight by then.
Off out for dinner and drinks tonight, as a farewell to DH's hometown, we're the last to leave, so all the boys are coming up, should be good fun :D

    Afternoon diary
Was a tad hungover this morning, but had a lovely time last night. We went to several of our old haunts, and all ended up back at ours for drinks until about 2am! Fair few empties that I won't have to pack now :rotfl:
Have sorted and cleaned entire flat, ready to pack tomorrow. Fridge and freezer nearly empty too, so I think we're officially ready for the move

Well done on your weightloss :T, I need a special event or something i think to really kick me in the behind :rotfl:, I haven't weighed myself for weeks! I'm hoping that work colleagues may be persuaded to resume walking this week unless it pours down.

Best of luck for your move too, I hope it all goes smoothly. The new bed sounds lovely :)

Whole bookshelves packed, just the china cabinet left to do for today's plan. I'm knackered already though, and rapidly running out of space for filled boxes. Not sure what I'm going to do when I start packing the kitchen tomorrow!
Few bits for DH and I to sort through this evening, but not much so should just be able to chill out.

China cabinet all packed up and I'm sitting down with a drink and a biscuit. I bought them.for the removers, as my friend advised me too, but I think after 3 straight hours if packing *I* count as a remover!:rotfl:

    Morning Diary :)
Bit hectic here this morning, I had to get up before DH left for work to use the online banking on his laptop. Made sure all the money was in place to pay the deposit this morning. He then left for work and I realised 5 mins later that he'd taken all the tenancy paperwork with him, so had to get him to come back with it :rotfl:

Had a shower and just getting organised to head to the bank and then off to get the keys :D

Still loads of packing to do, haven't tackled the kitchen yet and we're running short on boxes, so will stop by a self storage place and buy some more. Annoying, but necessary! Plan for this afternoon is to pack the whole kitchen, and get the bedroom and bathroom as done as they can be while we still have to sleep here! we're going to have to go out for tea as the only place left to put boxes is in the actual kitchen! I quite fancy a chippy tea anyway ;)
