Payday today :j
All CCs paid, and our new snowball is all set up (except the NW card, which STILL hasn't arrived ). Bit depressing this month as all the BT fees, and the fact we're only paying minimums this month and next mean that our debt has gone up and 2 months added to DFD! We'll get it down again though.
Have transferred the rest of the snowball to savings to pay for the extra bits when we move.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Being a bridesmaid sounds fab, I have never ever been one
. Hope your friend gets her proposal soon

Hello Diary
Weighed in this morning, maintained again. Went for my first run for a month yesterday though, and going again on Monday.
Did my big monthly shop last night, managed to only spend £85, normally comes in nearer £100. We're trying to keep our grocery budget to £150 this month, and use up as much as possible from the cupboards and freezer before we move.
Looking forward to a quiet weekend. Had to get up early as letting agents were bringing people over for viewings this morning, but no plans for the rest of the weekend.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Afternoon Diary
Lazy weekend was just what the doctor ordered, feeling much brighter today, even though DH (I'm not sure he deserves the D today!) walloped me across the face at 4am and woke me up! Didn't get back to sleep for an hour, as it was hammering down with rain. Still managed to get up when I'm actually supposed to (615, instead of 650 like normal!), so showered, cooked porridge and actually sat down to eat it.
Been out for a run with new running buddy, and we're planning to go again on Wednesday. She's just started, so we did 2 miles on Friday, and the same again today, but at a decent pace. I'll try and fit in a longer run on Friday as she's off for the weekend. Thinking about going swimming tonight as well, will see how I feel when I get home.
Am currently eating some yummy homemade soup. I got a GINORMOUS chicken in the reduced section on Friday (6.5lbs, only £3! I normally feel bad about buying intensively raised chickens, but not when they're in the reduced section and about to be thrown away), and roasted it - once I'd stripped the carcass there was 3 pounds of meat! (and all the crispy skin for me, mmmm) so we've had chicken sandwiches, chicken pie, I've made a vat of chicken mulligatawny soup, and also 3 litres of stock in the freezer. There's still about half the meat left, so am making chicken risotto for tea tonight, and chicken noodle soup for tea tomorrow! If there's any left will probably put it in rissoles for tea on wednesday.
Am trying for a new record on the number of meals off one chicken - last time it was about 18, this time we're already up to 12....
It's also helping to pare down our storecupboards and freezer, in preparation for the move :rotfl:Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Hi, after being drawn in by the title of your diary I've now subscribed.
I'd like to thank you, after reading your progress with running you've inspired me, I've always wanted to take up running/jogging but never had the guts or belief that I could do it (especially being hugely overweight I weigh twice as much and more for my height)
I took the plunge yesterday and combined walking for three minutes then jogging for 30 seconds and kept on repeating that for 35 mins around my local quite small reservoir.
Happily I didn't die or have a heart attack and I enjoyed it in a strange way so I will be going again and will look to increase the number of seconds once it becomes easy.
Thank you so much
Hiya, I missed your post yesterday, must have cross posted! Welcome to my diary!
Well done on getting started with the jogging, that's brilliant :j I'm going to repost my beginners schedule at the bottom of this post in case you missed it and wanted to follow a program. Let me know how you're getting on!
Two other bits of advice 1)The more you do the more you improve - sounds obvious, but with my running club I found I struggled on the weeks that I didn't do something else in between sessions, so try and get out 2-3 times a week if you possibly can. I try and do 2 shorter runs and one longer one, depending on work etc.
2) if you're of the larger persuasion (like me!) then a good sports bra is absolutely essential! Try to get to a Bravissimo shop to be fitted (or failing that Debenhams/John Lewis, but NEVER M&S, they're useless if you're over a D cup, had me in a 42DD, when I'm really a 36FF!), and I'd recommend the shock absorber level 4 (DD+) It's a fearsome contraption, but it's amazing. The Bravissimo girl had me doing star jumps in the changing room, and nothing budged at all! I bought my first one in November 2008, and have only just had to replace it, so it's quite hardy as well.
Training schedule:
Week 1 - Walk 2 mins, jog 2 mins x 3
Week 2 - Walk 2 mins, jog 2 mins x 4
Week 3 - Walk 2 mins, jog 4 mins x 3
Week 4 - Walk 2 mins, jog 4 mins x 4
Week 5 - Walk 2 mins, jog 5 mins x 3
Week 6 - Jog 5 mins, walk 2 mins then repeat until tired/desired distance covered
Week 7 - Jog 7 mins, walk 2 mins then repeat until tired/desired distance covered
Week 8 - Jog 10 mins, walk 2 mins then repeat until tired/desired distance covered
Week 9 - Jog 10 mins, walk 2 mins then repeat until tired/desired distance covered
Week 10 - Jog till tired, walk 2 mins to recover then repeat until tired/desired distance covered
Following week 10 we carried on covering 3-5 miles a session, and gradually built up to running the whole distance in time for our 5 mile race in June.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Afternoon Diary
Not much to report today, failed to go swimming last night, DH had a headache and by the time he'd taken some pills and sat down for half an hour for them to kick in, there was no getting me out of my chair! determined to go tonight. Really want to kickstart my weightloss again, before I let myself slide backwards.
Busy lab day at work, and my legs are definitely feeling the after effects of yesterdays run, have been up and down stairs all morning, and my thighs ache! Had yum chicken and philadelphia rolls for lunch, plus a yoghurt and some fruit. Chicken risotto for tea, as I really didn't want to stand and stir last night.
Still no NW card, but have left the paperwork at home, will try and ring them tonight. Really want to move my BC balance asap, it's on 28% APR and the interest charges are crippling.
DH off to the dentist this afternoon, so waiting to see what needs doing (at least 1 filling) and how much it will cost. I also need to go, but am waiting til we move to see if I can find an NHS dentist in Bedford, as currently still registered under my maiden name at the dentists near home!Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -

Afternoon diary
Just back from my run, 3 miles in 42 minutes, which is pretty fast for me :j had to drop down to a walk a couple of times, as my pace was faster than normal, but timed them carefully and didn't let myself walk for longer than 2 mins. Am currently eating my lunch as fast as possible, I'm absolutely starving.
Finally remembered to bring my paperwork to work so I could ring nationwide, and after 20 minutes on the phone, and being passed backwards and forwards about 5 times, we established that they had my address written down wrongly, so couldn't find the electoral roll entry and thought it didn't exist
so instead of:
xx our flats,
our road
they had:
our flats
xx our road
not exactly rocket science to work that out is it?! so now I have to go into a branch with proof of my address before they can issue my card. Don't know why, as they've already sent me paperwork to the correct address, which I sent back, but I'm not going to argue. Hopefully will be able to get to a NW on the way home tomorrow or Friday, if carshare is WAH, otherwise saturday.
DH had 1 filling at the dentist, only took 5 minutes, as it was a tiny one, and no anaesthetic , but cost £45!!! Still could have been worse, I know that I need a crown, which is £200 (and this is the NHS price!?), so am just avoiding going to the dentist atm.
Didn't go swimming though, as his tooth was all achy, and I didn't fancy going on my own.
I'm sad to report that we used the last of the giant chicken last night in rissotto, as DH made himself an extra sarnie as he was WAH, and he's not as stingy as me. still, we got about 18 meals off him, so not bad for £3 and a bit of roasting!
homemade pizzas for tea tonight, yumgoing to nip into sainsburys for a crate of biere de flandres as well, 18 bottles for a fiver, bargain!
it's DH's payday, and we always used to have takeaway pizza as a payday treat, but since we moved to Harpenden last year we haven't been able to find a decent takeaway, and Dominos from St Albans (3 miles away!) won't deliver to us.:(
There's a Dominos in Bedford though.....Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Aloha!
I didn't realise I hadn't visited you for a while! It sounds like you made the most of that Chicken :rotfl:. I like Chicken as you can do so much with it but OH hates it as he thinks it is really bland.
Well done on your second star too, I think I may be coming up for my third star soon which is a good reason to spam everyone. I wish I liked pizza but I really don't, I think it's the tomato base that I can't stand. A bistro cafe did make me one with a garlic buitter base and it was fab!
You mentioning the dentist made me shudder, I hate them! I haven't been for so long but once my debt is paid then I will, I would like to get veneers on my two front teeth as I have a little gap at the bottom which means I clamp my mouth shut when I smile.
Good run time too, we haven't been walking for a while, especially with the rubbish weather - must try harder!!

Morning Diary
Well as I was leaving work last night I stepped out of the door and instantly got a wet left foot! When I got in the car I took my trainer off for a look, and there was a 2 inch split across the sole  I only bought these trainers in May  (although they were only £6 in Sainsburys)
As a result had a shoe dilemma this morning, and ended up putting on my leather ankle boots, but have now realised that I'm in the lab all day, and have got heels on, doh!
Will have to be un-MSE and go shoe shopping at the weekend for some flat shoes that don't require me to wear popsocks to see me through the winter - I have 2 pairs of ballet pumps, but our office is often very cold, and my feet get cold very easily due to my thyroid condition, which makes me feel really grotty. I HATE shoe shopping with a passion, I have enormous feet, size 8 and quite wide, so even if the shop miraculously stocks size 8s (most don't, or only order 1 pair in each style) depending on the style they still might not fit on my feet
What I really want are some knee high brown leather boots, but I'm saving those for a debt free and diet finished treat :rotfl:Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160
