hi i have been trying to find airtricity's tariff but don't see it on their website. i followed a link in an older post but the page has changed and now says i can save 'up to 10%'. what use is that? i tried emailing their customer service but no reply. if the tariff isn't there in plain figures it makes you think maybe they aren't cheaper at all. why the big mystery?

You can find the prices at the above link. Just choose the tarif/option you are interested in, and then click on "Learn More".

If you are paying NIE by monthly direct debit you get a 4% discount from them so a 10% saving if you switch to Airtricity, me thinks.
Be good to the young on their way up you might need them on your way down.

thanks 'dsab'. i was so annoyed at not seeing the price on the page that i could be bothered to learn more. now i know but i agree with glenderg they're not allowing for nie's dd discount. in any event the whole thing is academic as we have a keypad and can't switch yet. be interesting to see if they offer the extra discount to keypad pay as you go the way nie does. then it might be worth the switch. thank for info

It was made clear to me that if I was an NIE direct debit customer then I'd save 10%, if I wasn't already on direct debit then I'd save 14%.

Apart from a slight billing issue due to my bank changing sort codes without telling me , I've had no problems whatsoever so far, 3 months in.

  • Got my first Airtricity bill this week. The rate is £0.1231 per unit + 5% VAT.
My last NIE bill was £0.1431 per unit, the 5% discount (for Direct Debit) makes it £0.1374 + 5% VAT.
Therefore I should save around £0.0143 per unit.
My average bill is around £60 per month. I use around 4500 units per year, so I should see a saving of around £65 a year.
Not only that, but it is "greener" energy too, so it is helping the environment :)

the only part I dont like is they dont offer monthly direct debit .

  • I was considering the switch myself, but it looks like the saving is fixed; their "Standard Rate" seems to be the same price per unit as NIE, unless I'm reading it wrongly?
  • Am going to look into this, as well...
