What's stopping you. The worst that can happen is you get cheaper electricity.

.... and possibly poor customer service. Very important.

Following this thread with interest. We are on Keypad with NIE, so the 10% cheaper Airtricity option is very tempting!!.

Has anyone made the keypad switch? - Any problems.

On the Airtricity website they make it sound so easy to switch, including not having to change the keypad already in place, even though NIE own the Keypad!!.

Switched from NIe to Airtricity last July but haven't had 1 hassle free bill yet. Don't get texts r emails. Rang again 2day & they've set it up again but why does info keep getting lost. Over the 6mt period I've paid about £25 more (maybe due to colder weather that last year)so def not seeing any savings.

    exactly the same i'm afraid.
reset up the mobile and email text alerts and still not coming through. I go through getting a massive bill and then getting a smaller than normal bill. Arrrghhh!

Is the problem that Airtricity are not like nanny NIE and don't waste money paying people to read meters. Airtricity clearly ask people to send in readings regularly so that they can make the most accurate estimates. The reading date is usually the same every two months so all anyone needs to do is read the meter a day or two in advance. Is that so difficult? All you have to do is put a note in your diary. I've had no problems with Airtricity at all.

I suppose if you are organised and not too busy to forget ....
but you miss the point - if you have subscribed to an email and mobile phone reminder service and it doesn't operate properly then that is the problem. Otherwise don't advertise that you offer the service.

Just had one of the Airtricity reps call around and leave me a little booklet suggesting i can switch straight over now from the NIE keypad to their pay-as-you-go meter.
I'm concerned if it seems too good to be true then it might well be! Offers this discount for 12mths. Does anyone know if they then stick their prices up do NIE charge you for going back to them?

there is no contract so there is no opt out fee and NIE will not charge to switch back.
You already get 2.5% discount from NIE and the offer from Airticity is 12.5% for 1 year making a nett saving of 10%.
If NIE prices go up so does Airtricity but the same discounts apply.

Ok Just signed up to Switch over to Airtricity Keypad. Anyone out there done the same? - any problems with the switching process? - Only problem I can see is you can't top-up online, but no big deal I suppose. 10% saving was the deal maker for me.

We signed up at the start of july and have heard nothing since, the sales guy did say there was a big delay so hopefully there'll be something soon.

I am the same I signed up in July (we have a keypad), chased it up today only to be told that they have not sent my paperwork away to NIE yet!!! Not amused as they did not warn me of the back log when I signed up on the phone.

I now have to wait on a letter arriving to tell me when to contact NIE to get it sorted. All the while I'm not saving anything! Thought it would have been a quicker process.
    Bout Ye!!!
