There is an NIE pole on our land. If we ever needed it moved, due to building work, would they still move it and would NIE still own it or would Airtricity own it?0

There are a couple of discrete companies involved. NIE run the Transmission and Distribution network which get sthe electricity to your home. This is seperate from NIE Energy who you pay for your electricity and Airtricity basically act in NIE Energy's place. Both these companies pay NIE T&D to get the power to you.

I got a call from Jonathan Delaney, the Customer Service Manager at Airtricity on 4th July inviting me to switch over. I agreed and gave all my details, including a meter reading. I am still being supplied and billed by NIE Energy, and I have contacted Airtricity several times to see how long it will take, but I am simply asked for a further meter reading and told I will have to wait until my registration is completed to receive cheaper electricity, despite the promise on the Airtricity website that I would be receiving cheaper electricity from my first meter reading given!
Why does it take so long to switch over??0 -
They do estimate, but it only for the period between your submission and the billing date, eg
Reminder to read meter 15th
Own Reading submitted 17th
Bill generated 24th
... they estimate the usage from the 17th to the 24th, so unless you took a few hundred units off your 'final NIE' meter reading (to get it cheaper @ the airtricity rate) it should be pretty accurate.
Having problems with Airtricity estimates myself.
Received a text reminder on 13th September and duly submitted my reading online, they sent me my bill yesterday and estimated that i'd used an extra 476 units in the space of a week :shocked:0 -
Hooly
It sounds as if they're trying to get you to pay in advance. This is what nearly all utility companies try to achieve, in NIE's case using its direct debit scheme.0 -
Got no response to my email so rang them, submitted an accurate reading and they reduced the bill by £50....wont bother submitting an online reading anymore will just ring their 0845 if bill is over the top0

Current advertising says Airtricity will revert to standard rates (or something similar) at the end of September? Does this reduce the amount of savings or what do they actually mean?0

end of September 2011 i think (rather than 2010)0

Hi, this is my first post
I am an Airtricity Representative and admit i come across a huge amount of people that have attempted to switch yet for some reason, signing up via phone and online just dont seem to up to scratch, there doesnt seem to be many issues when good old pen is put to paper in my view
ive posted here not to sell but to help anyone with any questions and il try me best0 -
NAR it just means that the offer at the moment agree to, is rate you will be staying on until next september, kind of like as reassurance and an incentive even without any form of contract or tie down, afterwards they will just revert to the normal price next september.. emm..my tip, when that time comes, say your considering switching back so they can agree a good fixed price for you again0
