Switched from NIe to Airtricity last July but haven't had 1 hassle free bill yet. Don't get texts r emails. Rang again 2day & they've set it up again but why does info keep getting lost. Over the 6mt period I've paid about £25 more (maybe due to colder weather that last year)so def not seeing any savings.0

Finally got an email from them this morning to say there had been a problem with their alerts, which are now working. (Well, the email alerts are anyway, I can't remember whether I got a text or not).
They seem like a bit of a shambles to be honest. Perfect competition for NIE then. ;-)0 -
I changed in July too and everything went smoothly and I got reminders when it was time to send them meter readings and the bills were fine.
However I didn't get a request for a meter reading for the latest bill up to 25th January and when the estimated bill came it was 20% too high so I contacted them on the website with the correct reading and asked them to change it. Yesterday, a full week later, nobody had responded to my request so I rang them as the DD was due to go out today. The girl I spoke to was very apologetic and cancelled the DD and said a new bill would follow.
She said there is a big backlog of website queries suggesting that they don't have enough people dealing with these. Lesson for me is don't bother contacting them other than by phone.0 -
Changed to Airtricity in January, or thought i had. NIE read the meter as they do, but when i got the bill it was not up to NIE's change over date but the whole 3 month period. Phoned NIE and they said i was still with them. Phoned Airtricity and they had my mobile num wrong. They said they had been phoning me from Feb.Why did they not write? Told them to forget it i am staying with NIE. After i put phone down i realise they cost me about £10 as i cancelled my direct debit with NIE so i didn't get the discount on my bill. Waited 10 mins to get though to thier call centre so i can't be bothered to phone again. Bewarned i say.:cool:0

Hi
I am currently on NIE Keypad and am considering moving to Airtricity keypad. How simple is it? Have heard that as I am on NIE keypad I have to go back to standard meter reading with NIE before I can move, any help would be great!!! Thanks0 -
I see that Airtricity are now saying it's a 2 year contract if new customers join them, 14% in year 1 and 8% in year two. Still not sure if we should change or not! I know it's a bit of a no brainer as it's cheaper than NIE, but something is holding me back from changing over.
Any comments on this?Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34
Mortgage starting balance at Sept 09 - £127,224 on 30 year term. Currently balance approx £116,945 (Updated Jan '12)

What's stopping you. The worst that can happen is you get cheaper electricity.
Also there is always an option to switch without any contract and yes you lose 2% per year but will always be cheaper than NIE Energy. Oh and IF NOT you can always switch back again
The great news is once you,ve switched you will ALWAYS get discounted electric whether you are in a contract or not.0 -

Not true. You do not have to go back to "normal metering" to avail of discounts from airtricity From Tuesday the 7th June 2011
A representative near you will call at your door to offer keypad users an alternative to the NIE Energy top up cards. The switch is very simple .. no contract required. More details soon!!!
You may have recieved a card to let you know that NIE will be reading keypad meters in line with all other meters. This is to facilitate the new choice that customers will now enjoy0 -
The current Airtricity deal for electricty (standard Meter) is
2 year contract, Online billing, DD every 2months.
14% year 1... 8% Year 2. They will still be very competitive even after end of contract
or choose
1 year NO contract. Online billing, DD every 2months.
12% They will still be very competitive even after end of non-contract
Other discounts apply for paper billing.
The above discounts are based on the current nett unit rate of electricity0 -
Just had one of the Airtricity reps call around and leave me a little booklet suggesting i can switch straight over now from the NIE keypad to their pay-as-you-go meter.
I'm concerned if it seems too good to be true then it might well be! Offers this discount for 12mths. Does anyone know if they then stick their prices up do NIE charge you for going back to them?0
