I got my first bill from Airtricity .Strangely it was an estimate .
I read my meter when I signed up 0n 20th June .I got an email requesting a reading on the 12 July ,I then got an estimated bill on the 19th July . Why an estimate a week after they got a reading ,I dont know .
I deal with Airtricity in work, and I have noticed this too - even when the meter is read, they still send a bill saying 'estimate'. Then every six months or so, they end up doing an adjustment to the bill. Its a strange way of doing things, although in the long run we have never had any problems....0 -
I signed up in June 2010 still not sorted0

Am thinking of switching to airtricity.....our bill was £60 per month this time last year ... went up in Jan to £136 and they brought it down to £128 back in April .... cant understand this big jump????:eek::eek::eek:It's a great day for singing a song / It's a great day for moving along / It's a great day for morning to night / It's a great day for everybody's plight.
Your father pedals car telephones at a 300 percent markup. Your mother works on heavy commission at a camera store. Graduated to it from espresso machines. Hah!0 -
The actual reading taken by the NIE network business is sent to Airtricity, unless it matches the Airtricity billing date you will always get an estimate and the match is unlikely as NIE read on a three monthly cycle, whereas you will be billed every two months. But the reading is taken into account and the only days estimated are those from the actual reading date to the Airtricity billing date. However, this can be reduced if you provide a reading to Airtricity close to the end of your billing period. To help with this they sent me a reminder text to supply a reading online.0

I specifically asked before I signed up if I would only be charged for the actual amount used in the 2 months. If my bills don't match my readings, they'll be getting complaints and dd indemnity claims from me.
No sign of anything happening on my account at this stage even though I signed up in June. They must be snowed under with people moving from NIE at last
Cheers, Des.0 -
They do estimate, but it only for the period between your submission and the billing date, eg
Reminder to read meter 15th
Own Reading submitted 17th
Bill generated 24th
... they estimate the usage from the 17th to the 24th, so unless you took a few hundred units off your 'final NIE' meter reading (to get it cheaper @ the airtricity rate) it should be pretty accurate.0 -

Your now an Airtricity customer, the bill is every two months so you'll hear nothing until thenAlso, can you just join them straight up, rather than switching?
I've e-mailed them but got no reply.
Airtricity rep here in the tyrone area
NIE still own the grid so all new supplies have to start with NIE, but you can switch right away, it is only available to bill pay customers at the mo, keypads will be able to switch start of 2011.
All you need is your:-
NIE customer number
Direct debt details
Meter read and meter number
there is no contract and we have a 10 day cooling off before anything is processed
As I said above NIE still own the grid and still do all the maintance, and from posts above you can see the commercial market has been open 10 years with NIE still doing the maintaince for the commercial side.
We also have the option for reminders for the bills in the form of text message or email to avoid the estimated bills, its free.
Savings:
only payment option is direct debt
with direct debt + posted bill you get 12% saving
with direct debt + bill emailed you get 14% saving
the saving runs off nie price if theirs moves to does ours
Hope this helps guys if you have any questions just ask.0 -
Well, on last viewing of the property I am moving into, there is no keypad. I'm ringing NIE tomorrow as due to move into property (Or at least complete on it) on Friday. I'll probably then contact Airtricity after that - though not because of the rep here - I'd already made the choice.
Note to the rep, if you wish to act in an official capacity, you should contact the site admin to let them know.0 -
