This year I want to make her a waybuloo cake. Something like this but without 3D characters. Im not that adventurous so probably just 2D ones on top of it

What kind of icing should I use? I always get confused by the different names and types.

Just a quick question when you all make your figures did you all teach yourself through trial and error or from books? Really want to try to make one have looked on youtube they make it look so easy but use a large range of tools is it really that simple?

Love the bear cake Emma:T Thats fondant icing on that cake. You can either buy fondant thats already coloured green or buy some paste colour and add it to white fondant;)

As you can probably tell I taught myself through alot of trial and error:D I did look in books and on the net but to be honest you just have to give it a go even if you make a mess(which I often do;)) I found it's the only way to learn really. I did look for classes but they are all miles away from me. I'm still learning but I've always loved a challenge!

Sethsgran - I love the domes! Trying to think of ways to make that without a large chest freezer LOL Might have to be lots of smaller ones ;)
Stardrops - you have THE neatest pretty writing ever! Looking at that baby blue cake... I'm in awe! *sigh* - I'd be brave enough to try almost all the shapes and things but writing terrifies me! *sigh* :)
