Hi Evansangel,
Have you used your chocolate chips yet? If not, have you tried making mouldable chocolate?
My friend told me how to make it before I attempted my car, I used it for the car windows and it tastes fantastic.
Melt 300g of chocolate and mix with 100ml of golden syrup and leave to cool/set.
I was told it can be used instead of ready to roll icing, but it doesn't crack so gives a smoother finish.
You sprinkle cocoa powder so it doesn't stick but as I was using white chocolate I didn't think that would work so rolled mine between two shees of greaseproof paper.
Thanks for this
I used 1 bag and made vanilla and chocolate chip cupcakes which everyone loved.
Sethsgran, your pinata cake is fantastic!
Haven't really made any cakes since my pac cakes, but im about to make some more as the ILs are coming round tonight.
Im announcing our new pregnancy to them via cupcake0 -
Hi everyone,
I am making a Swimming Pool novelty cake for my sons party this weekend.
I am making little people out of fondant icing, what I want to know is if it's a good idea to let the 'people' dry out? if so how long? or should I keep them in an airtight container once assembled?
My other question is how is best to remove the cornflour from the fondant icing? should I brush them gently with water?

I think it would be better if you made them in advance, I make my little figures upto 3 weeks before I make the cake(not that I've been caking for long;)) I find it less stressful to have them ready beforehand so that you can concentrate on the cake and then just add the pre made figure:D I just put mine on a little foam board on my sideboard to air dry and harden up.
I try to brush cornflour off dry or sometimes use a slightly damp pastry brush, hth.Feb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)
