sorry so big a picture. This is the trio of wedding cakes I made for my daughters wedding last week. 1 has choc fudge cake under the dome, 1 carrot cake and 1 sponge cake. Each cake had homemade truffles on top and then the chocolate dome. Instead of cutting the cake they cracked it open and fed each other a truffle. In the perspex cylinder they had glass nuggets with flashibf individual LED lights, battery. I like to bake/cook but never done a wedding cake before, if thats not a cheat to call it a wedding cake Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -
Stardrops those cakes are fabulous! Really lovely.
Awesome the cake is lovely. The handle reminds me of those marshmallow twists that you can get!
Anic the car is fantastic. I'd never have the courage to have attempted it and it does look really good!
Seths Gran, I love the wedding cake! It's so unusual and looks soooo tasty!0 -

Where did you start with the black and white shapes? Did you measure the cake and how did you work out how many you needed?
Thanks0 -
Fantastic cakes everyone.
Stardrops think you should go in business with your novelty cakes,
they are so neat and tidy. Bet everyone loved them on their big day.
Anic; Love the car and all the little details you have added no wonder he was pleased
to receive it. Did you grit your teeth when it was cut! My daughter does cakes for the
family and I can't bear to watch the cakes being cut up after all that hard work.
sethsgran; That's a brill idea for a wedding cake so different and yummy looking.
I bet it looked lovely when the bottom bit was lit up. (another idea to add to the ever growing list!)
Awesome2; How pretty is that bag. Glad you got the handle sorted, yep it does look like a flump!
I bet your brain went into overdrive getting it right!0 -
Hi Ladies
Just thought I would share my first go at icing cupcakes, some are lemon and the rest are strawberry Thanks to Moosetastic for the cases!
Think the icing could have done with being a little stiffer will make a note for next time0 -
They look delicious!0

Some really great bakes here but Stardrops42 yours are blinding. I do think you have something there. I watch Cake Boss on cable sometimes & you'd fit in there a treat.
Thanks for sharing the topping ingredients. MSE is mote time taking expert, I have a to do list like no tomorrow!
OK a foolproof cupcake recipe please. I am NOT a great baker but I wish I was. I dabble rarely so need a ironcast cupcake that'll give me hope.
Also we have those cases in our Asda but also I picked up some nice ones form Sainsburys recently & aslo Ikea (really modern trendy IMO). See I buy all the stuff just need to do the baking part.0 -

My kids made this one for my birthday. They are only 8 and 6 (the 2yo stuck the balls on, hence the indents!). I had to do the oven bit though and help a bit with the weighing etc. And I had to do the cleaning up....
But it was the thought that counts!0 -
Hi Stardrops42
Could I just ask when you made this
Where did you start with the black and white shapes? Did you measure the cake and how did you work out how many you needed?
Thanks
Hi
This was made about 3 weeks ago for my nieces little boy. I have to admit the football took some figuring out!! After alot of discussion with my OH and sister we realised that the black shape is a pentagon and the white is a hexagon (sounds simple but I thought it was all hexagons at first:o) I started at the top of the ball with a black pentagon and then just filled the rest in like a jigsaw I didn't really work out how many I needed beforehand, OH made me the templates out of cardboard. I laid the template on the fondant and cut round them with a knife. I just kept cutting them out until I had enough to cover the ball, does that make sense:oFeb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)
