  • Plus 1, dammit :mad::mad::mad: And this week isn't going to be great because we have a friend staying which means OH is going all out with his cooking.

On the plus side, when I was down in Inverness yesterday collecting said friend from the airport, I went into Run4It to buy myself some proper running clothes - and ended up with size 10 running tights :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D Nearly bought the whole shop in gratitude!!

    Hi,

I've been following this thread with interest as I have two goals in life. Becoming mortgage free and improving my health!

I'm 30 years old, married for four years and expecting our first child late this year! I am rubbish at keeping to a strict regime and hope this is the first step to keeping fitter.

I am a bloke who has got through most of my life eating out and relying on my dh for cooked meals. Not good and I am ashamed of it especially now announcing it to the world!

With our first new arrival, I want to be able to run around and be active with our children. Having a desk job does not help but I should not use that as an excuse.

I weighed myself for the first time in years this morning and am 12stone 9lbs! For someone my height (5'6") I would class myself as overweight!

I play five-a-side football once a week but don't stick to any sort of diet of calorie guidelines. I have a Nintendo Wii which hasn't been turned on for months and have a mountain bike I brought a few years ago which I would like to start using that to improve my fitness. I've tried many gyms and I just don't have the motivation to use them regularly enough.

As I said, my wife is six months pregnant so i have to be careful how I phrase things but I'm sure she will be supportive of my goals.

Taka - that is a tremendous achievement, well done. You're an example of what I could have achieved if I'd stuck at it instead of slipping away barely two weeks joining...

Well, I'm back with renewed vigour. The only person responsible for my weight is me, so I'm going to have a second bash at this. I hope you're ok with me rejoining you all after falling off the wagon!!!

I am 5'6" and currently weigh 13 stone 4 lbs. I'm 42, so middle age spread has firmly settled in round my middle!!

I would like to follow the principles of the slimming world plan, especially the Original or Red days (where you really cut down on carbs), on which I lost 1.5 stone a few years ago. However, I'm finding this very hard on a budget.

Are there any on-line resources peeps are using to loose weight on a very, very tight budget? If so, would you mind sharing? [TPA - I see that you're using the SW plan?]

Many thanks... and I'm pleased to be back. I'm off to look back at the thread now, to see how other people are doing!!

Edit: Just found my original details.. I am no 20 in TPA's numbering system... I see that I have lost the grand total of 1Lb in weight since then... :rotfl:
    20. QueenBee: 13 stone 5 lb/0/1 stone 0 lb/ 0/Wednesday
I think that in future, I'm going to record my weight on Mondays, as it's the start of the week and all that, and may also put in dates!

Finally, I am realising that I need to up my activity levels, as when I was 3 stone lighter, I used to go to the gym 4x a week and do classes. I've not been a visitor for nearly three years now... or indeed, done much exercise at all. Plus my knees are starting to hurt (no surprising really, given all the weight they're having to support!)

Has anyone else been in the position of being very unfit (and, ahem, hating exercise) and then getting back into the regime of being active? If so, how did you do it??

Thank you QB! Welcome back! Be kind to yourself - you've still lost that 1lb (why is it not in your loss numbers?) Good luck! :T

I've been logging my food and exercise into my fitness pal . It isn't a diet plan or anything but it allows you to track your calories, fat, protein etc as well as your weight loss and exercise (they have mobile phone apps for the site too). There is a forum if you have any questions... If you do use it I would double check foods in the database (as it relies on users inputting data to expand the database which is not foolproof and there may be american/uk differences in products!) Same goes for exercise. It helps me to be honest about what I'm eating and notice what I may be not eating enough of some things (fat! :o).

I'm waiting to see a dietician to give me more personal advice especially as I'm a veggie and have a long history of EDs but who knows how long the wait for that will be.

    Me me me!!!
The most exercise I used to do was walking the dog! Now I have found Curves, I can highly recommend it if theres one near you. Their moto is No mirrors, No men!! It is a 30 minute workout that I try to do at least three times a week, sometimes 4, I actually quiet enjoy it:eek:. It cost £29 per month and is well worth it, they also do a FREE diet class, you don't even have to be a member. If there is one near you they will let you go for a free try out.
