i have just passed my first target .
i will now reset to 2 stone. ( 4stone 5lb just sounds too scary).
anyway 5lb off this week . cant quite figure out the rhyme or reason but delighted.

no formal exercise but plenty of painting and carrying boxes etc in prep of house sale.
    have a good week everyone.

Don't knock the mashed cauliflower! I made it for my Irish potato-fetishist hubby to be, and he loved it! This is despite hating cauliflower normally, and potatoes being his favourite food. He said you could tell the difference if you look for it, but its very nice.

Another 50mins on the cross trainer today - which it says is 1000cals. Even at almost max resistance this seems like quite a lot tbh, but my level of fitness is so much better than its ever been, and most importantly I'm making real progress building up my knee and starting to get a good bend on it again, so I'm getting a bit more confident I'll be ready to walk down the aisle in 4 weeks. First dress fitting on wednesday - eek!

    Hi can I join please.

I have been trying to slim down since the beginning of the month. My clothes are tight and i'd rather not buy a whole new wardrobe. Also I'm conscious of extra weight around my waist particularly.:o

Initially, first 3 weeks I did well, losing 9 pounds. Since then no loss, but no gain- which is good in itself since we had a holiday. (I ate lots but did lots of walking and swimming to make up for it)

    Start Weight 1/7/10 10 stone 7
    Current Weight 1/8/10 9 stone 12
Goal Weight by end of August 9 stone 6
Goal Weight by end of September 9 stone 0

    My MFW weight loss plan:
Eat filling meals but stop eating once full.
Drink low fat hot chocolate in the evening when craving chocolate- it works for me.
Reduce alcohol intake- this week no alcohol at all- and I can save the cash ;)
Don't buy junk, biscuits, icecream, cakes etc- then I can't eat it -and I can save the cash ;)
    No crisps.
Grate mature cheddar cheese- it goes further. Less fat consumed and less money spent ;)
Eat more veg and less meat. This time of year veg is cheap at the grocers and its lower in calories. (made a big pot of vegetable stew last night- its done two nights tea served with chopped apple, chopped red pepper and a small piece of cheese- diced)
Exercise- go for a walk every day, go to a fitness class or swimming twice a week. Bike ride at least twice a week for the rest of august.

Good luck everyone. Any other tips gratefully received.:)

Took the dog out for a good walk today. Then spent a few hours gardening- tired now. Not doing too bad on the diet but we've been invited out to a dinner party at the weekend. The friends who've invited us are always very extravagant and generous- lots of courses and a selection of wines from their holiday in France.
Going to be hard to be good :o.
    Any suggestions?

I wouldn't want to be rude, or feel deprived, so I'd make sure I did an extra hours cardio exercise that day and the one after like swimming, running, going on the bike to get my body going and to make up for it in a small way.

I've developed scales-phobia. I'm so sick of it not moving that I'm just not going near them. I can not get over how much harder it is to loose the last stone than it was to loose the first one and a half. My wedding dress does at least now fit, but I would still like to get at least another half stone off - but only 4 weeks to go so that may be a bit of a pipe dream at this point!

Dinah know what you mean.... I think I've been so good then get so disappointed when they dont shift.. You want to have something tangible with weight loss i.e seeing the numbers drop.

I now last year my bike leathers were tightish they were loose in late May although my two days away have put paid to that they now fit properly.... It just seems no matter what I do it doesnt shift!!

Dinah, surely inches is more important than weight loss???? This is what makes up how you actually look. You are going to look gorgeous in your dress xxx

I'm a numbers freak though, I need it to be tanglible!

Today I put a sign on the fridge saying '4 weeks to go - have an apple instead' - hopefully it'll work and I'll shift a bit more before I have to hit the beach in my bikini.

Did an hour on the treadmill today - 180 watts average, 14k, apparently 1550 calories, but I'm calling it 750 - damned thing is still lying to me.
