Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the feedback on this thread, it's been really valuable during our many conversations with MCD and Sunglasses-Shop today.
While we appreciate the frustration at what happened with the prices earlier on (and believe me, the shock on this thread was echoed in MoneySaving Towers), the team here and the teams at MyCityDeals/Sunglasses Shop have worked very hard today to get resolution to this without customers losing it, which I now think we have.
As Deborah's post above says, if the price shown on your order is the higher one, then email support@sunglassesshop.com and tell them, so they can adjust the price you pay.
Even though the promotion hasn't gone as smoothly as I am sure SunglassesShop would have liked, we want to reassure everyone here that this isn't a scam. We have been and will continue to follow this to make sure everyone is dealt with fairly.
As discussed, MSE did use an affiliated link for this deal, as was explained clearly on the page. However, as is also explained in a link from every page on the site (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/funding), no deal or product is ever included in the email or in articles because of a commercial arrangement - EVERYTHING is judged on its own merits as whether or not it is an appealing deal for customers.
Please let us know if any other problems develop with this deal (or that everything is sorted!).
Cheers
Dan
The problem is that this action (the action of the retailer, not MSE) is reactive, because they were caught out. This should never have happened in the first place, it typifies everything that MSE usually works against.Gone ... or have I?0 -

Well I've sent them 2 emails today, one at 10.33 complaining about the price rise, and a subsquent one at 13.32 when I realised that my voucher had expired as I didnt complete the order following the price rise.
I've not had a reply for either, and now am nervous that I'm not going to get a delivery before I go on holiday 2 weeks today.
I'm happy to give them the benefit of the doubt with the pricing, but they need to work quickly!0 -

This is something we will of course be investigating (and on the Dermalgica offer too), but at the moment the only productive thing we can do is to act as we have done today i.e. ensure SunglassesShop honour the original prices.Former MSE team member0 -

Thats not what the CEO says. He says if you are not happy to pay the increased prices you must ring Mycitydeals for a refund!
This is a shambles
Apart from that I dont know the exact cost of the glasses i was looking at but I do know they have increased0 -
I ordered mine before the price hike at 8am this morning, have just been on live chat to ask if my order is ok after reading this and if they are despatching any today?
Was told my order is fine and only that they will be sent "within 7 days" but surely they must have processed some orders and want them out of the way?!
Here's hoping for a despatch confirmation, also the glasses I ordered are still showing as in stock so won't be happy if they change them!
Anyone had a despatch con yet?0 -

Nope, the Subway was a free Sub and the cinema deal worked fine for me?
I swear some people on here have very small brains. You got a free sub - oh great a BOGOF and same for the cinema - WOW!!
You really are missing the point and the whole tone of this thread. How much did you fork out up front for your free sub and cinema deal?
£17.50?
Why are you even posting on this board? To stick up for Mycitydeal? Or to let us know you got a free sub - either way pretty pointless if you don't get the gist. :T0 -

Nope, he is talking about the 4 pounds delivery cost, which was mentioned in our write up of this deal and on the Sunglasses-Shop site.
Email them and let them know about the price change, and then please let us know if they don't sort it out.
Cheers

Just received this:
Dear MyCityDealer,
As a result of the huge popularity of the Sunglasses Shop deal, stocks of popular ranges have been severely depleted. This has led to unforeseen increased costs stemming from Sunglasses Shop’s various suppliers, which in turn have resulted in automated price rises on the website itself. Sunglasses Shop are aware of this problem and are working to fix the prices back to their original level on the site. In addition, if you contact them at supportatsunglassesshop.com, they have promised to honour the original prices of the products in question.
Also, there have been some problems regarding validation codes, please follow the process below before making your purchase:
- Go to the website to browse the sunglasses on offer.
- Once you are ready to make your purchase, go to the website (I've had to take out the links) and enter your voucher code. Please note that once your code is entered, it will instantly be invalidated – so be sure to know what you want.
- Select your purchase and checkout.
Please note that, as stated in the deal’s fine print, there is a £4 delivery fee.
MyCityDeal and Sunglasses Shop both wish to apologise for these problems, and for the difficulties in accessing the website yesterday. We are all working very hard to ensure a swift resolution.
If you have any questions, please contact us on 0800 007 5719 or support@mycitydeal.co.uk.
Many thanks,
MyCityDeal
So can the SunGlasses Shop confirm they WILL be changing the prices on their website and when will this be.0 -

As per my post earlier if you google the glasses and scroll down to the sunglass shop you will find "cashed" written in blue. if you click that it should bring up the previous page from a couple days ago.
If you have trouble just private pm me and i'll try and find it for you0 -
