I've email MyCityDeal asking for a refund this afternoon but they've yet to reply me.

Tommy 2000 who was apparently a representative of the sunglasses shop - even though he posed as a customer - SPAMMER - stated many hours ago that they would be adjusting their prices to yesterdays prices.
It hasn't happened. They could have come offline for an hour and adjusted their prices.
They don't want to because they want to get as many orders, and as much money as they can because A LOT of people are very pi77ed off with them.
They will probably come online tomorrow with a message saying that the website is closed "for maintenence" and we will find out that they have gone bust with tens of thousands of our pounds.
All three companies, Mycitydeals, sunglassesshop and moneysavingexpert.com have been made to look utter fools by this. Deceptive, lying fools at that.
In the past I have blindly accepted offers on Martins money as vetted and genuine. This has made me very wary of the advice and I will now take it with a pinch of salt.
For some reason I can't help but feel that moneysavingexpert.com has made some money out of this too. A shambolic rip off with non existent customer service. Not happy at all.
Just give us our money back Mycitydeal!!!! And stop passing the buck. Instantly refund me like I instantly paid you!0 -
what is their cooling off period and there is a freefone number for Mycity
08000075719
Thanks for the number. According to a post earlier before, it's 7 days:I've also been very annoyed to find out the Ray-bans I wanted have gone up £9 (from £111 to £120). That would make a total of £70 + £4 postage + £17.50 Mycitydeals = £92.50. I can buy the same glasses from another, more honest, dealer for £90 and am tempted to do just that unless they sort this out quickly.
Worth noting that mycitydeals SAY they'll give you a refund within 7 days, assuming you haven't used the voucher. Here's the info from their website (I assume when they say "write" that an email will suffice - if they mean an actual paper letter then they really are cowboys):
Completion of transaction and your right to cancel:
The contract to buy is complete but you may cancel the transaction by writing to us within 7 working days of Voucher receipt (prior to any redemption of the Voucher being made).Eleventh Heaven #23101 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 110 -

The glasses I wanted were advertised at £88. That made the total price £59.50 delivered which was £10 less than available on Ebay. However later on this morning, when the offer kicked in, the price shot up to £94 making the total £65.50 delivered.
Saving me a grand total of £4.50. Whopee bloody do. It's not worth it.
Judging by other comments on here and the Internet businesses that work with Mycitydeal have a habit of upping the price when the offer kicks in.
The way they do that stinks and as a result I would never use Mycitydeal or The Sunglasses shop EVER again and I will be telling everyone I know to avoid them both as shoddy, deceptive, lying companies that cannot be trusted.
Please email them on the email address in the posts above - we want everyone to get these at the originally advertised price.Former MSE team member0 -
Bought voucher last night, logged on to purchase at dinnertime today and all went through ok. Then got replies from CityDeal and Sunglass shop saying oops pricing problem - then read this forum.
My view to SG shop is here (after I made the Google Cache check)
"Addition to my correction request below - I have checked the Google Cache price of these as at yesterday and it was £105.41, so your automated price rise added £8.89, which is the adjustment I am looking for please.
I have read the comments on the Money Saving Expert forum about this, and whilst I am not cynical enough to agree with those that this is a fix, I do expect you to honour the prices as indicated.
Your early reply would be appreciated.........."
I am as disappointed in MSE as I am with CityDeal and SG shop. I am normally precious about e mail sign ups, and merely use the MSE guides and tools as something to read and consider. They often save me money, but this time I have been suckered in to registering name , address, and e mail details with 2 outfits that I wouldn't normally do, and also name and e mail address with MSE just to make this point.
As an earlier poster said - "Price rise for bulk purchase in a recession? You are joking.
PS if MSE Dan who posted whilst I registered to write this has any clout then will you please 'go upstairs' to Martin and tell him that this wasn't MSE's greatest recommendation (which is a bit of an understatement)0 -
This is one of the first times I've followed through with one of the tips on the MSE e-mail and as such I'm very disappointed and a bit disillusioned frankly.
I tried to make my purchase bright and early this morning and it was declined for some reason. I e-mailed their support team and they reset my voucher so I could try again. but wait a minute, the price had gone up?! I tried to make the same purchase as before and it was declined again. So I rang up my card issuer who told me they had put a block on the transaction as they didn't trust the company! (Really..?? Me either!!) So I logged on to this site to find similar complaints and am now unsure as what to do. I still would like my sunglasses but don't want either company to get my money or MSE to get any plaudits or whatever they get out of it...
As for the "automatic price rises", I find that hilarious. What sort of company can't control its prices?! I'm hoping they have automatic price decreases to say...£0, but I'm not sure it will go that way funnily enough..
Hope all this gets sorted soon and if people can say if they've had a successful refund from MyCityDeals. I'm still unsure what to do really. Just thought I'd add to the forum to display my disgust at a situation that aside from being totally unprofessional has a real dishonest feel to it really.0 -
I have emailed them asking for a £5.90 refund on one order and a £5.95 refund on another. Not a huge sum but worth having. Thanks to WestHamDaz for the Google Shopping Cache info - I was able to attach screenshots of the original prices to my email.
I am willing to reserve judgment to see how it plays out.0 -
Please email them on the email address in the posts above - we want everyone to get these at the originally advertised price.
You seem very keen for them to sell the glasses after everything they have done. Why is that?
I HAVE emailed them at lunchtime asking why they had raised the price and if they would honour the price advertised yesterday and this morning. I had NO RESPONSE.
Thanks to the companies sneaky and underhand tactics I will NEVER give them a penny and will let as many people know as possible that they are unreliable.
The product I wanted they advertised yesterday at £88. With all discounts including delivery it bought the price down to around £60. The same sunglasses are available delivered on Ebay for £70. Therefore I saved about 14% - worth it.
After their price rise it bought my "saving" down to about 6% of the £70.
It really isn't worth it. I especially don't want to spend any money with a company that acts in such an immoral way employing dirty tricks and then trying to pass off the con with extremely weak excuses (LIES).
The deal was in conjunction and basically the headline grabber on the weekly email that gets sent to how many million people? And they thought that out of that few million people they would only get 1000 people taking up the offer.
It just smells of BS of the highest order. I hope they get massive negative publicity and that it reaches the national press so that more people know how underhand and dishonest they are.0 -
with regards to yesterdays prices, i have been entering the url of the page I want to see prices for into google search and them clicking the cache link. it gave me the price on the 16th for one pair.
typing sunglasses and following cache link gave me prices for today0 -
Dear MyCityDeal Sunglasses Shop promotion customers,
Just a quick update to let you know that so far today our team have processed 2800 orders and dispatched 1500 orders and the night is still young!
We are extremely committed to providing you with your designer sunglasses as quickly as possible, as well as replying to your email queries (today we were providing a personal response about 3hrs after receiving an email).
Again, many thanks for your custom.
Kind regards,
Daniel
CEO
P.S. Below is our earlier post.
Dear MyCityDeal participants,
Firstly, many thanks for your participation in this promotion. Please be assured that through participating in this you are sure to get a fantastic deal on authentic products from the world's leading designers.
However, please accept our apologies that there was some confusion around the changes to our usual excellent, market-leading customer service, which includes next day free delivery in the UK.
The reason for this was that this promotion with MyCityDeal was designed to be a small scale test to check the financial viability of the Sunglasses Shop doing a wider promotion in the future, as the viability for us of working with MyCityDeal depends upon how customers behave in redeeming the vouchers, for example, do they buy a £50 product with their voucher or do they use the voucher to upgrade their usual budget. To ensure that the Sunglasses Shop did not lose money in running this test promotion we had to change our usual T&Cs and charge for delivery for products bought with these vouchers, lengthen the delivery time to 7 days, as well as raise the prices of certain brands of sunglasses (but only to levels still below the RRP).
As the promotion offered through MyCityDeal was clearly very attractive we received a much larger response than we had anticipated, we have had problems in providing our usual excellent levels of customer service, for which we take responsibility and apologies to you.
The Sunglasses Shop team is now working extremely hard to fulfil your orders, which you can be assured that we will do.
Sunglasses Shop remains committed to providing fantastic designer eyewear with free next day UK delivery in protective packaging, expert advice through our market leading celebrity trend monitoring, a secure website and all at great value prices.
We thank you for your custom and hope you love wearing your new designer sunglasses this summer.
Yours sincerely,
Daniel Puddick
