My code didnt work earlier. Theyve reset it and ive ordered my glasses (which sounds like they were one of the few that havent gone up in price). Theyve taken the payment but no order confirmation yet (jotted order number down earlier though). All very dodgy.

How long did it take for them to sort out your voucher? What time did you email them?

How? The extra profit is going right into Sunglasses with their "Manufacturing costs" Mycitydeal would have already received payment from them

It is quite possible that mycitydeal have some kind of profit share arrangement, rather than a fixed price for each voucher.
Gone ... or have I?

Do you think that MyCityDeal take the £17.50 and give £32.50 to sunglasses-shop and thats the end of it? They will be getting a percentage of the revenue of all related sales.

This type of marketing deal is paid either by unit or %.

It will not be a flat price deal.

I have also bought this voucher. The price of the pair I wanted has gone up and I'm also one of the ones that's voucher didn't register and is now saying it has already been used. I just did a live chat with them......

Please wait. An operator will be with you shortly.
One moment please...

Hi :)
Sophie Turner says:
I have vouchers from mycitydeal for me and my boyfriend
Alice says:
Yeah..
Sophie Turner says:
i just tried to use my boyfriends and it didn't put it on during checkout so I closed the window to try again and now it's saying the voucher has been used
Alice says:
Ok, so you need to e-mail support@sunglassesshop.com
Sophie Turner says:
Also, the glasses I chose have gone up in price?!
Alice says:
They will be able to help you. Regarding the price, our manufacturers have put the prices up, forcing us to put ours up. It is very unfortunate that this has happened round the same time that the vouchers were released.
Sophie Turner says:
Surely thats a scam??
Sophie Turner says:
I saw something on the moneysavingexpert website (where I heard about the vouchers) saying you were going to change the prices back ad honour the original prices. Is that true?
Alice says:
We are aware how that makes us look. What you can do is to go through with your order and then e-mail mycityrefund@sunglassesshop.com and we will honour the original price.
Sophie Turner says:
ok thanks

I'm still hopeful!

So they want you to pay for the glasses at the higher price so they have your money and THEN you email them and they will refund you?

Why would you do that? I thought they were supposed to be changing the prices to what they were yesterday. Why haven't they done that yet?

They do seem to have had a lot of money off MSERs who bought into this shi7e voucher. I hope that through their greed they lose thousands of potential customers.

I certainly will be letting everyone I know what a scam this has been and to AVOID both companies at all costs.

Any publicity is good publicity. Unless it's bad publicity and you blatantly try to shaft people. I hope you have your Ratner moment Sunglasses shop!! :rotfl:

Why does everything think its Mycitydeals fault?!
THEY didn't put the prices up, they sold the voucher

They said it would work on all sunglasses, it didn't (custom oakleys and prescription sunglasses were ones I know friends tried them on and the vouchers were rejected as invalid)

Cancelled my order simply under the SOGA as the goods/services were not as described, still waiting for my confirmation email.

Never using either company again. The sunglasses I wanted strangely jumped £15 from £90 to £105 and are still in stock, yet apparently it has wiped their entire stock out....... and I'm Leonard Nimoy :rotfl:

No not at all. How would that even work? It hurts my brain to even imagine how you think that may work.

For every £17.50 we take we give them £32.50 and hope that everyone who takes up the offer buys really expensive sunglasses?

I suspect that for every £17.50 that has already been paid the Sunglasses shop take the bulk and Mycitydeal take a cut based on however many of the deals are sold.

The sunglasses shop said that 10000 deals were sold. £175 000. Say Mycitydeals get 10% - they make £17500 for doing very little really except hooking up buyers and sellers.

And out of that £175 K I want my £17.50 back but they seem reluctant to offer it.

THEY didn't put the prices up, they sold the voucher

I've had many deals in the past, subway, cinema which have been fine

Please elaborate on your deals that have been successful and where you have had to fork out £17.50 up front to get a product that is one price when the deal was advertised and then goes up a high % + the next day therefore making the "voucher" more or less worthless and the saving minimal?

What have you had from Subway and the cinema? 2 for 1 - you can get that anyway at the cinema on Wednesday. Upgrade to a foot long, free drink, packet of crisps?

Subway and cinema vouchers are not really good examples of Mycitydeal being a good, honest company. Do you work for them?
