Thanks. Is it the bigger bubbled packaging stuff then?

I'm tempted. I'm liking the sound of the poly tunnel effect!

What's the visibility through it like?

I really need to get around to putting the glazing film up....a job for "Halloween weekend" while my DD is away I think. I might even dig out my sewing machine and get my extra door curtains up. Ex will think I've lost it when he brings her home :rotfl::rotfl:I'll be laughing though. ;)

I put a blackout blind up in the kitchen and the difference in temperature compared to the normal one that was up there is noticeable, now I just need to do the rest of the winter proofing :D

its the regular size bubbles- i don't see why the large stuff wouldn't work either though. There is no visibility thru the windows, but after the weekend with the clocks changing wont be a problem until mid feb when starts to get lighter again. If I am at home during the day I may remove the middle panel so I can see out, but I overlook a school playground so the one advantage I now have is that during break times I dont get the kids flicking me the v sign. Bas*ar*s.

Bubble wrap a ruddy brilliant idea. We have a single glazed old conservatory, which is unusable for half the year. I'm gonna give it a whirl, and maybe we can get a little more use out of it, or at least limit the blasty of cold air when we let the critters out.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

I think you will see a marked improvement, although you wont really be able to see into the garden but it should be warmer. let me know how you get on. good luck.:T
  • If this helps.....Wilkinsons and the pound shops have rolls of bubble wrap for a quid. Not sure of the measurements though but it looks like there is quite a lot.

  • We got a HUGE roll of bubble wrap from a garden centre a few years ago, they sell it by the yard as well I think.
We used it to heat proof our guinea pig hutch along with all sorts of other measures. Sadly the G pigs didn't last very long.

We still have half a roll of bubble wrap in the garage so I'm thinking of unobtrusive places I can put some to add to our insulation.

If you only need a small amount of bubblewrap it's worth asking in the fruit & veg aisle at the supermarket, it's often used to protect the fruit. I asked once and the nice girl went out the back and returned with an armful of the stuff! I've used it over a single glazed pane above my front door and I'm going to roll some up & cover it with some spare fabric to use as a draught excluder.

Anyone up for the December challenge? :)
Yes, I am, I have got the winter and summer duvet on my bed, couldn't move at all last night though, it was like having Nellie the elephant on top of me. Bedroom thermometer says 17.3 degrees ... surely some mistake???
Husband won't let me bubblewrap our new conservatory
