This may be a daft question, but what type of thermometers do you all have and more importantly, where did you get them from?
I have absolutely no idea of the temperature in my house....other than flippin' freezing in thisgreat big barn of a kitchen.
I got a maximum/minimum thermometer in Boots from the reduced rack a few years ago. I think it's designed to go in babies nurseries, cot death risk etc etc...
It's fascinating to see how the temperature varies in our bedroom.
Downstairs I have one of those strips that changes colour and says too warm/too cold etc. It was a freebie from one of the power companies a while ago.
I am cross today, just got a letter from our power company telling me they increased the prices on 29th August !! Can they tell us retrospectively ? I only changed to them in July when there was all the messages about prices going up etc.
They're still charging less than I was paying for my electricity with Ecotricity previously...... it's all very well being green but I realised I was paying a fortune for it !

Maybe wrapping ourselves up with bubblewrap (not over the face though) will keep us warm as well as keeping drafts out on windows.
Then if you get bored, you can roll around the floor, popping away to your heart's content ! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

So it appears they can as long as they give you a 'get out' clauseCheryl0 -
The last increase notification I had from my lot (prior to changing to fixed price) had something in the small print along the lines of 'if you change supplier within 30 days of us sending this notification, then we won't apply the increase to your account. Should you remain with us, then we it will be applied from the specified date'
So it appears they can as long as they give you a 'get out' clause
Yes, it said something just like that and then also said if I remain with them for a year then I get a £100 discount ...... so if I change to another company then I lose £100 . They're a crafty lot!
I guess the others are all putting prices up as well. I can't be bothered to look but I'm sure there won't be much in it.

Bubblewrap0

Doesn't bubblewrap get a bit sweaty after a while ?
I guess a quick swish in cold water and washing soda soon sorts that out

Almost only a week left. EASY, EASY, EASY!!
Anyone up for the December challenge?0 -
I'm impressed with the bubblewrap too. Where's the best (cheapest) place for it? Anybody got some pics of how it looks, inside or out? How much light does it stop?0

wow jscalow impressed by the bubble wrap maybe I should give that a go but would probably have complaints from the neighbours they are v snobby at times!!
Still not got CH on but have to admit have just turned the gas fire on for a bit of warmth in the lounge!
I am fortunate as I am not over looked by anyone. I have just sealed the windows in the bedrooms and lounge. I didn't bother with the kitchen as I keep the door shut so no heat loss there and with the bathroom I didn't bother as I thought all the moisture would create a problem. In the daytime I make sure that the curtains are open to let the light and heat in and as soon as I get home I close the curtains and tuck them behind the radiators, I find this helps keep the rooms warm as there is no air circulating against the cold glass. It really has made a massive difference and have recommended to my friends who have done their patio doors as won't be used in winter and is a massive expanse of glass.0 -

I get mine from a storage centre, i think it was £3.49 for 5m x 75cm and have used decorators masking tape to seal it over the frames as it its not to sticky and won't leave a mark. It doesn't stop any light that I notice and if the sun is shining directly thru it its like a poly tunnel in a farmers field and the rooms- get this- get too hot! So I open the bedroom and lounge doors to let heat radiate into the hall. I have even had to open a window on occasion !
I have a digital weather station with an outside radio probe which will give me accuate temp info right now 22.24 its 14.c outside and 18.8 in this room with no heating. The idea is that once I turn the heating on the rooms stay warmer longer with less energy use.
I will take some photos later on the wekend and try and post them.0
