........I hope everyone going to bed earlier because they're afraid to put the heating on does'nt end up with a baby boom like it did in the 70s.........

No chance of that happening here - I got 'done' after DD 29 years ago !

I feel exactly the same. I am sat here still working on lesson plans and I am frozen to the bone. I WILL make it to the first of November, I WILL, I WILL. But it ain't going to be easy. The number of layers I need, I'm not going to be able to move my arms.

It's 10 degrees here... My fingers are cold but the rest of me is OK so far...

It was about 6 degrees when I crawled reluctantly out from under the duvet.
My legs were freezing, so jumped into a pair of trackkie pants sharpish.
Still no central heating on here.
Two mugs of hot tea have warmed me up and will have some porridge soon.
At least the sun is shining nicely.

I didn't see Panorama Phizz--was it interesting? I chose Dispatches on Ch4 cuz they were saying about fuel prices & such. I guess I was expecting more advice on how to cut usage but apart from the extention lead that turns things off & making sure the kids don't use all their gadgetry with gay abandon, there was very little.

Thankfully 2 of my three were watching it with me & now have a much better idea of what is ahead of us as a family :o & now know it's not just me being pedantic :p

This may be a daft question, but what type of thermometers do you all have and more importantly, where did you get them from?

I have absolutely no idea of the temperature in my house....other than flippin' freezing in thisgreat big barn of a kitchen.

Mine's an old one that I think belonged to my grandparents... put it this way, it has fahrenheit down one side and 'Freezing, Temperate, Sumr Heat, Blood Heat' down the other.

I've put the heating on (to test it clearly ;) ) and have now made it to temperate... 15.5 degrees! (At least my fingers are no longer so cold I can't type... although it could be the wine keeping me warm)

The problem is, I have to use a calculator to do the conversion every time I want to know what the temperature really is!
