How are people attaching their bubble wrap to doors and windows?

I use decorators easy peel masking tape @ £2.49 x 25m from hombase. it doesn't leave any marks on the wood and comes away easily. I tried it with velcro but to expensive, and you need to seal the wrap over the window, if there are any loose flaps or gaps the air will cool.

Despite the SNOW we had last night, our house is still quite warm, even though we have not had any heating on.
Although I did let the rabbit sleep in the kitchen last night!

The kids haven't once complained about being cold in the house yet (it's much colder outside!!)

I've been wearing two pairs of socks and now have to sleep in my dressing gown underneath my nellie-the-elephant duvet, but I still feel warm and toasty.

To think that, last year, I had the heating on the beginning of September just because I always do.

We will definitely make it to the 1st NOvember. Husband laughed last night that we could have a big 'switching-on' ceremony (!!!) but I'm going to hold out for as long as possible; the minute the kids start complaining (and they are being sensible, wearing fleecy pjamas and dressing gowns), that's when I'll relent.

Good luck to all striving for the 1st November and beyond!!!

Our heating is now on daily (since it was fixed on Monday) - more because of DH's condition than anything, but I think it would have been kicked in this morning for the family as a while anyway.....

We have snow !!! I've never known snow so early in the 'winter', and couldn't believe my eyes when I say a white coating (albeit not much more than a dusting) when I opened my curtains this morning !! Even the little dog seemed surprised, but unfortunately that meant she didn't want to come back in from her morning 'visit' due to the new smells/textures -- and I'm now frozen :(

I like the idea of the switching on ceremony morganb. It is a little celebration like that that the children will remember all their lives.

Any clever people out there who can suggest how we can capitalise on the free sunshine we get to warm our rooms and reduce our heating bills? I'm not thinking about massive expenditure like solar panels, just some really cheap innovative ideas which can help us take advantage of this free resource, in the same way that strategically placed mirrors can reflect sunlight and lighten up a room).
