Those IKEA curtains look great, we have 2 big windows in our livingroom/kitchen which are expensive to get curtains for! May have to go look at them.
Just been reading through this thread, loads of great ideas. Just checked my electricity online and i'm £120 in credit which is great news. Been very careful over the past few months and it looks like its paying off. I have no gas so dont have to worry about that thank goodness. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

Think I may want to talk about him, actually. Didn't know I did untill I looked at G&Bs avator, but I'm now quite, quite sure I would like to talk about him:D

If you take the IKEA curtains up remember that they do shrink when washed, so allow for that, plus they are a b*gger to iron.M.A.C.A.W member number 39

Have just posted on Sneaky ways to save the pennies but perhaps I should have put on here, that now I am using my remoska, slow cooker and pressure cooker more and more, I found I was putting the plates in the top oven to warm. Now, I just put some water between each plate and give them a burst in the microwave. Care needs to taken removing them though as the water gets very hot. I just take the whole lot out with an oven cloth and tip them into the drainer and let them drain for a couple of seconds.

I don't know if this has been asked before but...
If the weather is bad and I can't dry washing outside - is it cheaper to run the tumble dryer and dry it or would I be better off to turn the heating on for a couple of hours and put the clothes on the radiators/clothes airers in front of radiators?
Any views gratefully received
I struggle with this one too and I have had good intentions of checking the cost of running the heating vs the tumbledryer. Though of course haven't got around to it yet
My rule of thumb is if I am cold and will benefit from the heat anyway then I go for the heating option (but never as long as 2 hours  I'd be baked alive)
If it's warm enough then I let them hang on the airer for half a day or so to get rid of as much of the wet as possible and then tumble...
Not saying it's right though, just my own personal strategy0 -
