Take care Sammy, stay safe, keep indoors and try to keep warm.
I think we can just about conclude that in the UK we no longer have a summer season weather wise anymore:rolleyes:But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -

Just wanted to say I was thinking of you Sammi-kaye and hoping that you keep safe and that the electricity holds up. You are doing so well to be so prepared!

Basically I have a question.....during the day I often use my laptop for various things....the plugged is switched on only when the battery needs charging (I suppose I should do this at night really but just do as and when). Anyway I often listen to the radio too, so would I save power by listening online when I am in the living room/on the laptop, instead of using stereo ? Thanks.0 -
Thinking of you sammy-kaye, you are a gritty young lady. Amazing and a fine example to others0

Hi All
Well our electric did pop off just as my OH got in - he got home about 5.15 last night to me and little one sat colouring and no electric. He decided that something easy was what he wanted for tea but that he wanted something warm because he'd been out driving in the cold yesterday (ok cars have heating in them but he was freezing) and seems to be coming down with some lurgy or another.
Luckily at the time of my first post yesterday I'd put the water on to heat so there was enough for him to have a nice long bath in, then wracked my brains trying to think of something to feed him that wasnt beans or spaghetti (and hes not a soup fan) and came up with - french toast. Luckily our gas still works in a power cut when we use the gas lighter thingy so managed to make him that with relative ease because it was still light outside so he was happy.
We sat playing with Ben until he went to bed at 7.30 and then boyfriend went and did his weights workout (in our bedroom) and i sat down adn read my book by candlelight. Sat and chatted for a bit afterwards and then went to bed at 10pm.
Although only downside being that when the power went last night i couldnt remember what was switched on adn what was switched off so ive woken up to random lights on etc.
but we are all ok.
Think i will go and stock up some more for the storecupboard and dogs box today though from Mr T because from the looks of our weather forecast the rain is set to continue for a fair while yet and i dont think our local shop will have much in it after yesterday - just hoping the roads are clear!
Have also got to go and check mother in laws house - shes away in scotland and has a fishtank:eek: hoping and praying all her fishies made it through unscathed! Plus she lives at the bottom of a mountain so hoping there is still a house.  :eek:Time to find me again0 -
Keep up the good work Sammy , you sound very prepared and well organized (probally more than anyone else). Hope the weather changes for you soon.
Well yesturday I got my gas and electric statements , (i pay by direct debit) and usually just before the winter I am in credit by about £100 on both gas and electric. But this statement said I am in Debt by £65 and £53 !
This is a really bad way to start off the winter , they have increased my payments so I am now £38 a month worse off. I am so annoyed and more determind NOT to use much energy.
Yesturday I managed to buy a blind for my daughters bedroom , its quite thick and will hopefully help keep her room warm with her curtains drawn over the top. My hubby has fitted the new doors , which will be kept shut.
And I managed to buy some candles - I thought they were plain but they are a vanilla ( I hate the smelly candles).
Today I am going to line the back of the raidiators with foil to stop the heat escaping thru the wall.
Getting there !Kindness costs nothing0 -
oh no , just watching GMTV and they said Gas is set to rise again  ....
