Hi everyone, great thread!
Ok well here is my saving tip. Instead of filling your freezer with stuff to just pack it out, I have just been blackberry picking and freezing them to fill up the gaps in the freezer.
Haven't done it since I was a child and a bit wary at first of eating them but now, yum yum. I can't believe these are on sale for over a £1 in shops when they are growing all over the place.
Free food plus saving electric - my type of pricing!

i need to start a winter box too as its getting cold and its only august!!! i need some huge curtains for my bedroom but there so expensive but its a woodenbay window i have blinds up but its still chilly round the window but want some nice big heavy thick curtains for it will have to keep a look out, any ideas?? im looking at about 10ft drop and 9ft wide!!!!!
Ikea has curtains with 300cm drop, which almost 10ft! One pair (145cm wide) would cover the window, but you would need 4 (2 pairs) for a ruched effect.

Scottish & Southern and Eon have just announced their price hikes.

I don't know if this has been asked before but...
If the weather is bad and I can't dry washing outside - is it cheaper to run the tumble dryer and dry it or would I be better off to turn the heating on for a couple of hours and put the clothes on the radiators/clothes airers in front of radiators?

They make the "average" household bill currently to be £90 a month though
We're not paying anywhere near thatand we're on prepay!!

Newlywed, that average is for gas and electric, though, and it depends how big your house is and how many people are using the power. I know that I have made huge cutbacks since reading this thread and getting that little meter monitor from s&se.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

Thats a good idea , I might put spare blankets underneath the bottom sheet too.
.
I am thinking about keeping a box under my stairs , full of items to help keep us warm , so they are close to hand. Think I will put hats and gloves in it,
water bottles ect.
I often worry about how to keep my dog warm downstairs.
I give her a blanket but she lays on top of it , and her coat is short.
Maybe I should knit her a "night time" coat and put a hot water bottle under her bed.
Think I am gonna change my heating challange to November the 12th.
The Oldies Club (oldie dogs!!) used to have a link to something like K9 coats - they sell knitted dog coats for charity. You might be able to get a pattern if you'd prefer. Very stylish dogs
