    Hi Jannine

You can only get broadcall if you live in certain areas ,your need to check if your eligible. Basically what you normally get is Talk Talk rebranded.

Their is no minimum term according to them.

    See https://www.utilitywarehouse.co.uk/home/broadcall/

Who is your current landline supplier ? i ask because you may face problems if you take Broadcall and ever want to leave the UW phone service and retain your existing number.

Do you want to browse the net send mail etc on your mobile?

Thanks for the info, my current supplier is UW, I have landline and calls with them.

I currently use my mobile now to send e-mails etc. Good news about there being no min term.

    Excellent advice!

We post for the benefit of new readers to warn them about UW high prices and sales tactics.

I thought the phone bundle that has been discussed the last few pages was very reasonable, I have had a quick look around and it certainly seems a good deal to me, certainly not what I would call a "high price."

  • That means your gas and electric for one month was £80. That's about the same as what I paid on an expensive British Gas standard tariff. Even as part of a bundle deal, I've found UW is too expensive for Gas and Electric. I'm saving £300 a year by not being with UW for my gas and electric while I'm with Sky for phone and broadband which isn't much more than £20 a month.

UW are no good for us for gas and electric at the moment but when we downsize we'll have another look (the lower the consumption the more competive they are, funnily enough, and for people who don't have internet access and with low consumption they can be unbeatable, especially if they also take the phone line and maybe the £10 mobile sim). Of course, for people who don't have internet access and wish to receive an accurate paper bill each month UW are unbeatable as no-one else does this. ;)

We''ll just stick with the broadcall (with free calls evenings and weekends) and £10 mobile sim (500 x-net mins and u/l texts) at the moment as it seems to be a pretty unbeatable deal (it certainly hasn't been challenged by the usual suspects on here which I feel is telling), even before the massive discount we get by using the cash back card.

Edit: forgot to say, for readers who use the UW card please be aware that Asda seem to have gone 'live' earlier than expected (supposedly 1/1/11) as I bought shopping there the other day and the 3% discount is showing on my UW cash card account! Happy days!
  • Further heads up for those with the UW cash back card. The wonderful Claire21 has spotted yet another glitch:

Use your UW cashback for 5% off your bill in addition to the 3% cash back on offer from TCB/Quidco, BUT spend £100+ before midnight today and you will actually get 10% UW discount. Just ordered 2 hampers at 75% off, bill came to £100, so £10 off our UW bill and £3 cash back. No brainer!

Just to add to this. I slipped on ice and broke my right wrist recently, which means I'm out of action for at least 8 weeks. If I don't go to work in my day job, I don't get paid. I work in the support and care industry so need to be physically fully functional and able to drive.

If it wasn't for my UW monthly income, I'd be shafted financially.

I wonder what happened to post's I made yesterday? None of them could be classed as abuse or spam, I made one explaining how I changed to EDF, yet still have the cashback card and that I was considering the new phone bundled! I can't imagine why that could possibly be deleted!!

    Good question janninew!

I posted in response to another UW ID (not spam or anything abusive) and used part of his/her post in my reply. I notice that the quote I used has been edited out by the MSE Forum Team. Makes my post look like a totally random comment!

I suspect that the moderator deleted the posts by the UW distributor touting for business and it is simply quicker to delete his/her initial post and all subsequent posts by all users.(it is apparently much easier for them to do it that way)

It wasn't just your posts deleted, myself and others have had post deleted.
