Hello, can someone please tell me when UW are hiking their prices, please.
Do they still have the same pricing policy, the cheapest of the big six suppliers or have they changed?
From the company web site:-
“Big 6” means the six major energy companies who currently supply over 98% of UK households, comprising: British Gas, E.ON, npower, EDF (London Electricity, Seeboard and SWEB), Scottish Power and Scottish & Southern Energy.
Guarantees and price comparisons are based on the OFGEM standard domestic usage profiles for low, medium and high users on a like-for-like basis and exclude Club membership fee, surcharge for gas customers using an Independent Gas Transporter, dual-fuel discounts and online tariffs. Only applies to direct debit customers. During periods when retail prices are changing, we typically announce our new prices after most of the 'Big 6' have set their new prices in order to ensure our new prices are competitive and in line with our 'Triple Value' guanantee. Therefore when energy prices are falling, there may be a short period before our new prices take effect when our prices may be higher than those available from certain other suppliers. The reverse will however generally be true during periods when energy prices are rising.
I am an independent distributor with Utility Warehouse and the views I express may not be shared by the company. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

This seems more misleading info from a uw rep.
What is the point of you quoting this from the "company web site"?
It says and means nothing!
Though it refers to the worthless "guarantees", it doesn't guarantee anything at all!
But what it does is try to say comparisons between uw prices and others is done "like for like"!
Except of course not including:
1) The compulsory extra monthly membership fee that uw charges
2) Any discounts available elsewhere for taking dual fuel, paying by direct debit, discount for taking online tariffs elsewhere.
(Note if you don't pay by dd with uw they charge you 10% more and if you don't operate an online account, but want paper bills they also charge you extra each month)0 -
Meanwhile, back to the new mobile deals that made the detractors go all quiet on us.
I've decided to add the £10/mth sim only tariff to our existing broadcall. Firstly, because it's a great deal on its own but secondly because it gives us evening calls on our plan in addition to the weekend ones we already have. Even including the minimum monthly call charge of £1 (we will make this in daytime calls so not really a penalty for us) this package comes to £32.49/mth (it will obviously cost us much less than this once the cash back from the pre-paid mastercard is taken into account).
Phone line Rental
Up to 24MB broadband
40GB monthly download limit.
Inclusive evening and weekend calls to 01, 02, 03, 0870 and 10 top intl destinations.
500 x-network mobile minutes.
Unlimited texts.
Excellent deal when you consider the closest phone line/BB package with BT would cost £30/mth without the 500 mobile mins, unlimited texts AND inclusive evening calls AND Intl. calls. Plus the sting in the tail of the min. 18 month contract.0 -
Readers should be aware that MillicentBystander(see post above) posts always supporting UW in his current name and also as 1carminestocky, operastar and carespress and possible other names.
No connection with UW of course.0 -

Not another post with no information relevant to UW! Wasn't it you Cardew who first pulled somebody up on making posts that had nothing to do with UW prices, you seem to be pretty good at writing these yourself!
I've must admit to being disappointed with your recent posts as they aren't discussing any relevant issues, you're just making empty accusations, which I'm afraid to say are getting a little boring to read! Isn't it called spam when you keep posting the same old stuff?:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

This does seem like a very good deal, I will have to get my OH to take a look as my phone contract with Orange is ending in January and my employer is no longer providing me with an internet connection. Anybody know if there is a min term contract?:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Of course it is relevant to UW, and in any case spam on MSE is promoting a product - see the 'spam' icon at the bottom of each post!
I post not for your information - you have contributed for a long while and were wise enough to switch from UW when you(finally) realised just how expensive was UW's gas and electricity.
However there are new readers on MSE who apparently not as wise as yourself and must believe the rubbish fed to them by friends and/or family who are trying to sell them a very expensive product.
It is also relevant for new readers to be aware that there are many posters on here with multiple identities who have a vested interest in selling UW products - are they aware that there are over 30,000 UW salesmen and many more who earn commission by referring friends and family?
If you have read my admttedly frequent posts on the theme of UW's high prices and selling techniques, why not put me on ignore or just not bother reading my posts?0 -

Hi Jannine
You can only get broadcall if you live in certain areas ,your need to check if your eligible. Basically what you normally get is Talk Talk rebranded.
Their is no minimum term according to them.
See https://www.utilitywarehouse.co.uk/home/broadcall/
Who is your current landline supplier ? i ask because you may face problems if you take Broadcall and ever want to leave the UW phone service and retain your existing number.
Do you want to browse the net send mail etc on your mobile?0 -

I put Cardew, Quentin and quentin on my ignore list soem time ago. In fact they are my ignore list. I presume they are still spouting the same old stuff and therefore I think to best to let them stew in their own juices. I feel that ignoring them is probably the best way to deal with them.

Excellent advice!
We post for the benefit of new readers to warn them about UW high prices and sales tactics.0
