As you can appreciate, I can't post a link before it goes live, which is planned for next week. In answer to your question, however, it does refer to the "contract" basis.

Yes no point in bigging up their offers until the full facts are known.;)0 -

hi all
correct, these new mobile tarrifs are being published on monday.
it's pay monthly only to begin with (30 day rolling contract I believe). sim only is £20 per month for unlimited calls and unlimited texts, with a "guarantee" to beat "your" current mobile supplier or you will be refunded "double the difference".0 -

Four questions from this:
1 - What network are they piggybacking off?
2 - What is the fair usage policy?
3 - What models of phone come with this or are available on this?
4 - What is the internet usage?
On it's own, that policy doesn't look that impressive.0 -
Not really but I'll leave it. So, as you seem to know much more about mobiles than I do (wouldn't be difficult), are there cheaper deals out there?0

Well as the big 4 call it a fair usage policy it's the right word to use.
Until I know the whole tariff, I can't answer that. There's too little information to say either way.0 -

Here is my sad tale (and I apologise for the long post) and I can speak for both sides of this discussion.
I was roped in by my trusted FA (now ex-FA and not trusted) to sign up to the UW "dream". I paid huge amounts of money and yes, as everyone has already said on this site, proceeded to rope in whoever I could. I very quickly realised this was a bad option and advised everyone accordingly. Unfortunately, I was a bit slow to follow my own advice. I did cancel mobile phone and land lines a few months later - bills were coming to around £500 per month and more! I then looked around to see what was a better option and decided 3 months later to switch the gas and electrics from UW. The supplier said they couldn't transfer as UW had "blocked" it. I was under great pressure at home and work and should have followed up but didn't. (I was with UW for about 2 years in all - I think, still have not received full SAR as yet)
Six months later again (January), I had requested to move electricity suppliers - the "final" bill was around £242 which I paid at the end of January but the new supplier said that Utility Warehouse had not approved the move as there was money owing. I contacted them as the bill showed a zero balance. The girl on the phone at UW said she couldn't see that anything was owing and she would close the account.
In February I received the bill and it was £1200! I phoned them and they said that I owed them the money as I had been on a budget plan and they had decided to cancel this plan. My average bill per month was around £200 before this bill and I had all the statements at that time so I did not understand how this could be.
By April the bill was now almost £4000!
In April - Contacted Energywatch, they emailed and said they could do nothing until I had spoken to Utility Warehouse which I did but they were incredibly rude again even refusing to send out copy statements.
November - Contacted Energywatch again and told them that UW had now initiated a court case in mid December and they sent me threatening letters saying they would gain forceable entry to my house and switch off my gas and electricity.
November - Energywatch spoke to UW on my behalf and confirmed there would be no action regarding the court date in December as there was a hold on the account while the dispute is being investigated.
July following year, I again contacted Energywatch (account still in dispute). Even though I had paid over £650 in two months (and various amounts over time), the bill was now a staggering £7500!
UW then obtained a court order had no warrant to enter the house but forced entry and had card meters installed for both gas and electric.
The charges are horrendously high and the gas meter still shows a balance owing of £3,500 last time I looked and the electricity meter is around £3,500 as well.
While on this meter, I have been paying charges up to or around £500 per month.
I don't want any UW reps hidden or otherwise telling me how unfortunate I must have been or how unlucky or indeed how I must have used this amount so must pay. I know there are a lot of people out there who have been ripped off by UW and I hope just one person will read this post and decide never ever to take any of the offerings from this awful company.

Tesco Mobile are cheaper for the £10 and £15 deals based on the fact they include data.
For the £10 a month, both give you 30 day rolling contracts, sim free with 500 minutes and unlimited texts. However, Tesco also throw in data (500Mb) which UW don't. Same with the £15 a month. UW wins on the £20 one if you don't use data, as they do unlimited calls whereas Tesco only does 750 minutes. However, again Tesco does data whereas UW doesn't.0
