Blimey, 18.5 p/Kwh day & 6.6 p/Kwh night + 13.699 p/Day service charge (Economy 7 basic Tariff in Eastern Elec. area). That's very expensive indeed.
Co-Op Energy charge 13.07 p/Kwh day and 6.7 p/Kwhr night with 18 p/day service charge.
I average 22 units for day use & 4 for night use. So based on that, my bill for one days electric with UW would be £4.47, whilst with the Co-Op it would be £3.32.
The saving would be £1.15 EACH day (or £419.75 a year).
And I wonder why I switched from UW.
(comparison was between the UW Basic E7 Tariff and my current fixed-rate E7 tariff with the Co-Op)Never Knowingly Understood.

Having seen the new OfGen rules about rewarding customers, looks like UW will no longer be giving commission back to their distributors, or giving discounts for taking on other products.
Mind you, this affects ANY energy supplier. So no more cashback for switching or Nectar/Clubcard points/Co-Op dividends.Never Knowingly Understood.

I take it you mean Ofgem?
Do you have a link?
I can't believe that is the situation as it would strike at the whole business plan of UW.
Their sales depend on a 'pyramid' commission structure(and I don't mean an illegal pyramid scheme) but each agent recruiting other salesmen etc; and all receiving commission.
Selling other services - telephone etc is also a central plank, as are the discounts off their bills from use of their cashcard.0 -
The Co-Op sent out an email to their customers about it. The actions are as a result of an OfGem Retail Market Review with a view to creating a simpler market place for customers.
Having had a look through the info on OfGem's site, I cannot find out any mention of the need to stop paying rewards/commission, so have emailed OfGem and am now awaiting their response.Never Knowingly Understood.

Perhaps you could give me an example of a company that isn't based on a pyramid structure that isn't either a co-operative or sole trader?0 -
My neighbours are UW IDs now and are aggressively trying to recruit me - some of the deals sound good, but is it too good to be true? I am unsure following reading this thread. Advice appreciated.0

Hey I have been asked to be a distributor for this 'company' who apparently distribute for Utility Warehouse.
Is it a pyramid / marketing scam?
There's no solid reports on it when I Google. It's as though everyone is silent about it.
I am very dubious.0 -
It seems to be a 'network' marketing scheme where you have to sign-up other people to the scheme. So it's guaranteed to collapse under it's own weight."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
