Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) Discussion

Utility Warehouse is a discount club operated by Telecom Plus PLC, which was established in 1996 and is currently a FTSE250 PLC.
So, yes, it is network marketing, no it isn't a scam and there is no obligation to recruit distributors.
I suggest you have a more in depth conversation with the person who has approached you and do your own research based on facts.'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'

Is this always the case?
It seems to be being marketed as a get rich quick scheme.
They want £100 off you to set up.
The most alarming thing is how when you search Google to find opinions from unbiased sources, it seems like you can't find anything.0 -

I am aware of this company, but the sign up for £100 to be a distributor via magic pill seems ludicrous.0 -

You wouldn't be registering with Magic Pill you would be registering directly with Telecom Plus. Without knowing the facts, I can only surmise that 'Magic Pill' is the distributors business name maybe?
The £100 is a registration fee and covers admin,a fully managed website, training and your start up materials. I understand that there is a period whereby if you decide you do not wish to continue, you return your start up materials and T+ refund 75% of your registration fee. There is also a bonus scheme in place where, when you've gathered 3 qualifiying customers in your first 60 days, you receive a bonus of £100 which negates your initial fee.
Has this not been explained to you by the distributor that has offered this to you?'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'

No they didn't. I was under the impression they did not know what they had signed up for.
Why go through Magic Pill. You surely can't make anymore money than distributing for Utility Warehouse directly. Surely they're just creaming some of the profits.0 -

I see it as them charging you to do something UW will let you do for free. (Train you to distribute).
I don't see people ever making a return on their investments as some of the recruitment targets seem unmanageable.
What's stopping someone else from doing exactly the same as you if you do sign up?
Will this not collapse on itself and only benefit people at the top of the pyramid? While those at the bottom make nothing but do all of the 'distributing'?0 -
My neighbours are UW IDs now and are aggressively trying to recruit me - some of the deals sound good, but is it too good to be true? I am unsure following reading this thread. Advice appreciated.
Their way of working is to target friends family and neighbours etc and tell them they can help them save loadsamoney. You don't expect someone you know to mislead you!
Do your own research, use the independent comparison sites and see the extra cost switching your energy to UW will mean.0 -
From what you've said I think you're in possession of quite a lot of mis-information and there also seems to be a lot of misunderstanding.
If the person who has introduced this to you is fairly new to the industry, there might well be areas which they are unsure of themselves.
It's very straight forward and legal, find someone who can explain it to you then you can make a fully informed decision.'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'

I seem to remember someone asking me to do this - from memory...
You get paid to sign up people to take telecoms/utilities through UW and you also get a cut of their bill ongoing afterwards.
It does not rely on you signing up other distributors for £100 - just getting people to sign up to their services... Clearly if you sign up distributors, i think you get an override on their sales too..0 -

Did you pass it up rather than get involved? If so, how come?0
