    Hi
If anyone has a spare mobile phone they no longer need I would be very grateful. I need one for my son who is now at the age where he needs a phone for security.

    Many thanks"

Mind boggles what he's going to do with it for security - throw it at someone. Can the parents not go to Tesc0 and buy one for £10??

I suppose they mean their child is now at an age where they are starting to go out on their own and they would like them to be contactable. I won't let my son (11) go out without his phone.

I don't think it's actually that unreasonable a request, a lot of people upgrade their mobiles every year or so if they are on contract and often will have an older but still working phone lying around the house. If they had specified a particular kind of phone then that would be cheeky but just asking for any unused mobile is pretty much the kind of thing freecycle was set up for isn't it.

Well I have now given up on the freecycle/freegle organisations as having listed 3 items this weekend I have been messed about on 2 out the three including , yet again, a "no show"

Last time I gave it another chance it was going to be the last chance and of around 6-8 items offered I was messed around on about 80% of contact inc again a "no show".

    so that's me permanently done.

What other options are out there folks ?

Charity shops I guess is the obvious one - is there stuff they wont take ?
Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
    Do little and often
Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying

No please as usual - a fairly niche product I'd have thought?!

Yep that bit is marvellous. Now what is it they want? A mobile phone? A caravan and a toilet?
    Hardly clear is it!

Most charity shops won't take electrical items (i.e. anything with a plug on it, even if it also runs on batteries). They would need to get them checked by an electrician before selling them on which, for most shops, just isn't worth it.

Another alternative is Facebook. There are various groups set up in different areas for buying and selling. Just put it on there - for free if you don't want anything for it.

quite a few chazzas DO accept electrical items; e.g in my area cancer research and british heart foundation take electrical items. so surely it's worth a quick tel call to check rather than taking stuff to dump or giving away to the odd abusing freecycler who aims to resell?
  • Saw this earlier , made me laugh.
hi if you have any unwanted small tropical fish (community) guppies sword tails plattys neons etc health fish only and you would have to deliver as i do not drive i would gladly take them off your hands thanks lisa
  • I joined freegle and put up a post offering some army cap badges. Had them ages and I don't want to sell them because I don't know if they're genuine. Anyway, the post was awaiting moderation for a couple of days, then just vanished. Any idea why? I did mention that they could be fake so maybe that?

Now I still have the flipping things taking up space in my cupboard!
