Freecle / freecycle and balloons on sticks

She had about 60 at one time and was always after cages, newspaper etc etc. Her garages were full to bursting. In fact I told her to get on to freecycle for that very purpose. A porkpie short of a picnic that one.
She does a darn good job re-homing pups. FC also allows her to set up some of the people who'd love to home the pups but cannot afford the equipment.0 -
I am getting really fed up now of the same person every day posting multiple wanteds on the 2 freecyles i am a member of. I really don't understand why she hasn't been told to quit asking. It's the same stuff too over and over again.
Either she is not moderated or they don't care-i also have the same problem with the mods not approving messages for a whole day somtimes.
If i'm having a clear out will post the message up around 9am and it won't go on until late at night when idealy i wanted the item gone that day.
I have been a member too for years and i'm still being moderated which i can't understand.0 -
Well our local admin's just posted a very long justification for quitting and the group closing - basically naming the ridiculous wanters; those who won't format posts correctly; and the complaints relating to the ebay/no-show/rude crew as the reasons.
Not that it's not been coming for a while - now, tempted to re-join the next city across's group and watch the serial wanters immediately jump over there (I give them three days max)Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Sounds familiar! I quit as a mod at my local FC after a year for exactly the same reasons.
I was thoroughly sick of the WANT-WANT-WANT'ers and started to get rid of them by issuing strikes. I used the rules that state:-- You should use the WANT option sparingly.
- Not ask for things that everyone wants such as a diamond ring. I assumed that this was the same as WANTing the latest games console, laptop or 48in plasma TV
Unfortunately my lead mod disagreed with me and promply reinstated these people!
The final straw for me was that he started to permit one of these removed members put WANTED posts in for items "for a charity". When I protested he claimed that it was all OK - he had spoken to them. I am still unsure how gullible he was, downright stupid or in cahoots....
The site now again is nearly 60 % WANTED including such gems as "WANTED: Antique Silver Tie Pin" and "WANTED: Quality Cufflinks, not nickel as I am allergic" (allergic to not being able to sell them to a jeweller for loads of money...)
Frankly, looking at the site sickens me with the greed of people and discourages genuine people from making offers of stuff.
Nope, I do NOT miss being an FC mod...I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -

We have the same requests on our Freecycle - the cufflinks also say that as well as not being nickel, they should also be 'interesting'.
Wonder if it's the same one?0 -
These WANTing FC people usually post to several sites, not just local but all over the place, sometimes miles away. It was another way that I gave out strikes for infringment of the "Cross-Posting" rules.
Again my lead mod only paid lip service to this, quite happilly permitting the greedy bustards to WANT all over the place.I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -
someone on one of my local groups was asking for cannabis seeds and willing to pay if they were good enough dont know how that got through the mods0
