Good point about the rare stuff too, pulliptears. Maybe he's asking for everything as a cover to only wanting the valuable bits...
Probably so, there are lots of 'the right' 80's toys, and as he seems to be asking for everything 80's its a fairly safe bet he'll get something worth a few quid.
My lovely OH bought me an Amstrad CPC464 the other week for the grand sum of £2.20, complete with 40 odd games. I'm currently having great fun with it but it's a nice reminder that not all 80's computing is worth megabucks. In the end we felt so guilty we gave the bloke a fiver0 -
grr just come to vent really after having my inbox flooded with wanteds by the same person
bow fronted fish tank
boys clothes in sizes 2-3, 4-5. 6-7 and 8-9
baby girls clothes (how many kids have they got?)
bunk beds
matching 3 and 2 seater sofa
womans clothes
dog crate
how !!!!!!! much stuff do they want, and they have never offered a thing, why do mods let people get away with asking for so much stuff.0 -

Hello, i know this is a big ask but has anyone got a large lcd / plasma tv they no longer want? something over 37 inch would be great, but if you have smaller please let me know, we are in [nearby village] but willing to travel to collect as have own car"
I am surprised that they have not already been successful - surely people are just chucking out 37 inch flatscreens left right and centre!
I gave mine away on Freecycle just before christmas - it developed a fault last year which I had repaired for £100 as it was out of warranty, same fault occurred again so I decided to upgrade the TV. I listed on the local group saying that it needed a £100 repair and I think I got a message from virtually every member of the group!
In the end I gave it to a guy who I had seen offer quite a bit, and was one of the very few polite requests. As it turned out, he had been to my house about a month prior to deliver a shed I'd bought from a local garden centre - small world indeed.
I got a christmas card and small gift dropped through my door one day whilst I was out from him, and note to say that he had sourced the parts and repaired it himself for the grand sum of £35.
I could have listed on ebay but to be honest I didn't wnat the hassle and wanted it out of the way - to sell it for spares I would have got £5 tops, even repaired I doubt it would have sold for more than £150.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

I see your 37" TV and I raise you......................WANTED: 42" to 50" Lcd or Led Tv (xxxxxxxxxx)
During a period of illness my original Smart TV was broken beyond repair. I would prefer a known name and not a Plasma screen please.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Some people are stupid enough to believe all the media hype about Freecycle and Freegle.
They think it is a place where they can ask for anything and get it and have no plans to offer anything to anyone.
The whole basis of being able to ask for stuff was to equal out the offers that people should be making, which is the original intention of the groups.
But wanted posts were forced onto the groups and are now taking over and are often all that the press say about them.
I see plenty of press headlining on how you can get lots of free stuff but nothing on how it can help you dispose of all your unwanted stuff.0 -

I can confirm it is a great way of clearing unwanted stuff.
I dont even have to take it to the dump, the few things that are uncollected go in the black bin. It is saving a lot of stuff from landfill.
I work full time so just leave it outside covered, e.g. behind a bin, and they come and collect it sometime during the day.
Got 3 people arranged to collect today, and 1 other waiting to hear when they can collect!

Another person who doesn't understand how it works
"I posted a wanted last week from my old account but haven't had any emails. I am looking for xx"
Maybe that's because Freegle doesn't work like "I ask I get" mate!0 -
I saw a request for a study book on my local freegle and thought I'd check amazon because sometimes you can pick up books for a few pounds on there. It turns out the book the guy was requesting was over £100 on both amazon and ebay- even the kindle edition was £95!
May have been a totally innocent request, but I'm forever the cynic.I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0 -
I picked up several books from Freecycle that will have been worth amounts like that when new too.
I gave them away the same way when done with them.0 -
It really pe3s me off when people specify makes and models. I was always of the opinion that beggars can't be choosers, but my freegle is overrun with people demanding iphones and LG tvs and the only offers seem to be rubble and broken electronics.
I have given away loads of good conditions stuff - a cupboard, vacuum cleaner, blinds, cordless phones, a tv, a sofa... cant remember it all - and only ever applied for one thing which I was fortunate to get. However isn't that how it is supposed to work? Not all these bloomin requests and then people don't even turn up when they say they will! I now stick things on ebay for 99p and that seems to work better!
