They want a blue armchair.
They could go and buy one and you could take your chair to the dump.
If you have a red armchair, then that is what will happen anyway.
But if you have a blue armchair then it makes sense for them to come and get it.
It would make least sense for them to come and get your red armchair to then have to relist it or take it to the tip because it wasn't what they wanted.0 -
I usually put a photo up of items I am offering and include measurements.
There are so many kinds of chairs, bookshelves, wardrobes etc, that a photo narrows down the requests to the people who want something of the style I'm offering. It reduces the chances of people turning up and then deciding they don't want the item.
Some people have nothing and don't care what an item looks like but most people are using Freegle to save items from the tip (and get something for free) but they are going to be choosier about what they want for their home.0 -
I got two sofas in two different styles - one modern and low 3 seater, and one high sided "cuddle chair" type 2"ish" seater, both different makes, and from different freecyclers 16 miles apart. They actually have identical covering fabric and match! I didn’t even look for matching ones – one was from an “ask”. Funniest bit was driving with the cuddle chair tied on top of my estate car from Motherwell to Glasgow hoping it didn’t rain. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. The issue is the moderation is so slack that i'll post the message at around 9-10am on a Saturday only to have it approved around 1-2am on the Sunday. I'd rather have it unmoderated and filtering out the chancers myself than leave it to the mods who can't be arsed.
Last week we didn't have any posts for 3 days then 30 posts came through in a matter of minutes.
Or it could be that because the "voulenteer" mods have their own lives to live, jobs to do etc that they are unable to commit all their time to looking after the group (and there are no offers to help) so there are delays in approving messages.
Or it could be that your local group is one taken over by the TFN overlords of doom (Imods) from the US who look after lots of groups and have little time to spend on each one. (could explain the 1-2am time)
If you are still moderated I suspect it is the first because the imods are told to unmoderate anyone as soon as they have made a genuine post to prove they are not spammers. Is your local group on Yahoo still?
Perhaps you can offer them some of your time to help out so that messages get approved quicker.0 -

So many things wrong with this...I am looking for a flat screen TV any size for my son to run his xbox off, he dropped his last one. I really need to get him off the living room TV and back in his bedroom as I haven't watched my soaps in ages!
1. It doesnt HAVE to be flat screen.
2. If he dropped his last one he'd be buying his next one.
3. You parent. He child. You want to watch YOUR TV then YOU turn off the X Box!

I found this 'wanted' rather touching. They are polite and asking for the benefit of animals that hopeless owners don't want to care for. I hope she got the shed!
Wanted - garden shed
Hi I rescue guinea pigs, and I'm running out of space and am in desperate need of another shed, is there anyone out there that has one they no longer want please. Would really appreciate it. x0 -

I knew someone like this - although her definition of rescue included ones that she thought looked sad in the shop! She had about 60 at one time and was always after cages, newspaper etc etc. Her garages were full to bursting. In fact I told her to get on to freecycle for that very purpose. A porkpie short of a picnic that one.0
