I'm mighty glad that others do still offer goods on Freecycle, I've been looking for original Victorian doors to replace the modern rubbish ones in my house.
Someone offered some the other day, I responded expecting not to hear anything & I was offered them, very pleased. They've still got finger plates & most of the handles & locks.
I wouldn't have placed a wanted ad for them as they generally go for a fair bit on ebay.
    Thank you Freecycle.

I am grateful to Freegle. My son has wanted a trampoline and someone offered a 10' one. THREE people wasted her time and she asked me if I wanted it. Picked it up yesterday and all it needs is a new safety pad and enclosure. Another person gave away a rowing machine and some plants and they have been put to good use. I do not understand some of the people on Freegle who say they want something and never collect it.

Whenever there are complaints about greedy people etc, someone points out the whole purpose being to stop stuff going to landfill, but I suspect that that original goal has now been lost.

Freecycle/Freegle is mostly full of stuff that people would once have sold on classified ads/postcards in newsagents etc (or even if taken to the tip would have been rescued by the workers or dump-divers and sold on), and the stuff that wouldn't have a resale value like a couple of planks of wood which really would have been saved from landfill is no longer offered.
More than that. even the stuff that is taken on Freecycle, if taken by someone who wishes to sell on, if they do not sell reasonably quickly I suspect that it would end up in landfill anyway.
I may be wrong, but think that it has lost its way.

I can kind of see the logic in the left-over nappy thing... we had a fair few preemie sized ones that could have been left over when she suddenly had a growth spurt and went into "normal" (woo hoo!) sizes all of a sudden. However, because I'm a dirty rotten skinflint, and because she's tall and scrawny (lucky girl - future supermodel in the making) they still fitted enough around her waist for us to eek them all out using them for daytime changes when they weren't going to get soaked through. I considered freecycling them but couldn't take the premature baby sob-stories that would have inevitably landed in my inbox at that moment in time (the stay on neo-natal ICU was a bit TOOOOOO raw!).

Last thing I'd ever be doing is using second-hand formula unless it had come from something like a trustworthy family member - and even then I'd probably accept with a smile and then discreetly bin it.

Yep we all obviously have a few of those lying around! How did people manage University before the invention of the Ipad?!

The timewasters probably realised, only after asking for it, that they could buy a new trampoline with pad and enclosure for the price they could buy a replacement pad and enclosure for.
