It's free listing on ebay for the next 4 days, I'd try putting the other stuff on ebay, Gumtree or local facefook selling pages for car booters, you may get a few £'s for it.
we've got several charities that will collect if you have a lot of stuff. Sometimes the smaller local ones are able to collect faster.0 -
Can you not eBay some of it or do a boot sale yourself? I do sympathise though, some people are beyond rude.
The problem with it is it is free, and people don't respect free.
If you pay for something, you are more likely to look after it and conduct the transaction civilly.
I listed an item, first respond just rude, second was better so got offered it but never responded, same with third.
It's now outside ready for my next trip to the tip.
If I'd sold it (even for £1 on ebay but not worth the hassle), they'd have come for it, but free, who cares?Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -
What started as a brilliant way to stop useable items going to landfill has been ruined by the greedy few who say they need or want something before thinking about it.
A lot of people say that they won't offer things any more due to being let down by people which is a shame.
Years ago friends of mine lived in Germany & there on certain days anything you no longer wanted you would put outside & people would drive round & see if they needed something. I'm not sure exactly how it worked but it sounded like a very good idea to me.
Yard sales also sound like a great idea.0 -
I have to moan to someone about this lol
I offered something on Freecycle.
Had an email saying "ye i have it if u still got it" Hummm nice manners.
Then got a nice email off a lady saying she would like the item for her granddaughter.
She was very polite so I emailed back and offered it to her.
She was meant to come the next day before 4pm but didnt turn up.
Emailed her that night saying can you come tomorrow..no response, so I rang her and someone answered said
"hold on....(i could here her talking)...no shes not here bye"
I was really annoyed but being soft hearted thinking her granddaughter wants it I emailed her and said "if you want it you need to collect by tomorrow evening"
Got a reply asap saying "ohh so so sorry car is only good for scrap cant collect"
So I left it....
Then 2 days later she emailed asking if I still had it and she would come that day for definate...
Wanting to get rid of it I replied that that was fine...
You guessed it. She didnt bother turning up again!
Then sent an email saying "cant get there give to someone else"
Why oh why bother to ask for something if you're not going to bother getting off your bum and coming to collect it, especially if your getting it for free!
It was only a large teddy bear so she could easily have got on a bus but i guess that was too much trouble

Inform the group moderator of her behaviour, if she messes others around they will reprimand or ban her, put her on your email block list also.0

I now include the following in my signature, it will be interesting to see what sort of responses I get to future offers.PLEASE NOTE: Manners cost nothing, I don't reply to text speak or sob stories, I don't phone and I don't deliver. Failed collections will be offered to someone else, no second chances, time wasters will be blocked from any future offers and reported to the group moderators.0

I think some people ask for something not really expecting to be offered it. Then when they are they think 'oh carp, I've got to go and get it now, is it worth the petrol??'
I have offered loads of stuff. The flip side someone offered something that I need, politely e mailed, no response, then a week later they put it on again as it had not been taken. I thought maybe my e mail went into her spam folder. But someone got through because she posted it as taken a few days later.
Nowt queer as folk.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

I have exactly the same problem with people not turning up to collect items! Currently having to contact people who responded to an ad I placed two weeks ago. Ther person I orginally offered to has been stringing me along... very annoying.
Also annoying is people that dont place clear ads! Have just collected some wooden furniture which turned out to be covered in stickers and rather bizzare phrases 'just die now' etc scrawled all over with ball point pen. I dont really mind as I know I can fix it but the poster could easily have mentioned this in the ad - I certainly would have done! In the meantime I have to deal with my husband who thinks freecycling is a waste of time and would rather bin everything and is not convinced I can make the drawers look good.0 -
Not a balloon on a stick, just a Freegle post that made me laugh today:OFFER: Full Tank of Petrol
Due to someone who wishes to remain nameless filling my diesel car with petrol, I need to get rid of 65 litres of petrol - it might have a little bit of diesel in it but he only filled up because the warning light came on. I'd like to get rid asap so if you'd like to risk it get in touch, first person who can come round can have it.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
