No, but I have a bit of old tarp, a spade and a watering can...They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -

It's the sort of thing I would do (or at least would have done more so in the past) when taking a busted washing machine to the dump I would have removed anything that might be useful in the future and kept it.
Which means someone like me is totally likely to have a red inlet water pipe for hot water for a washine machine lying around not being used. If I did, passing it on to a freecycler would totally fit the purpose for which I kept it in the first place.
Wouldn't be something I'd ever advertise as "offered", so the ideal example of a "wanted".
Jimmy I can see where you are coming from - if I have to dump something I would most definitely take anything useful from it first. I think the point was that having been very generously given a free washing machine, it wouldn't have killed them to go out and buy the necessary plumbing to make it work!I have had many Light Bulb Moments. Well each time I say to myself yes try again with freecycle after many bad experiences yet again this week. Do I now just bite the bullet and say NO MORE
Requested an item they said I could pick up around lunchtime to avoid school runs. So I said 1pm. The pick up was over 30 miles from my home and I got there dead on 1pm. To find no one in. Had an appt at 1.15pm so was hoping I could be away quick. Luckily had the ladies tel number and phoned her for her to say she was running late back from the shop and could I wait. So I waited she got back at 1.30 ish and i missed my appointment.
Then I offered an item on our freecycle site - MOD (our local lady) requested the item (she seems to be requesting quite a lot of items from me recently) I never had any requesters so offered it to her. I strictly said pick up no later than 6pm as my son has his bath and then goes to bed and is easily disturbed. And she (who should have known better as she always states dont much people around arrives at 6.40pm !!!!!!!
Then today offered this lady lots of car boot items and a bottle of champagne she was genuine said she could collect to suit. So arranged for her to pick up at 8.30 this morning. As leave the house at 8.55 to take my son to nursery which I told her. So 8.30 comes no show. 8.37 had an email from her to say she was just leaving home. She lives about 2 mins from my house. 9am still no show. I had to lug all the bags and boxes out of the garage onto the drive to leave out for her inc the very expensive bottle of champagne. (maybe I should have just locked up and left). Come home items all gone. No email of thanks nothing. No confirmation that she actually came and had the items.
I am so mad with it all I really really really am ready to give up now and just take the lot to the tip. I am sorting out my whole house, garage and loft and trying to live minimalistically and so will have loads more to get rid of shall I just ditch the lot ?

Well I wished i had done boot sale myself as it was very good quality stuff. However difficult to do as i have a little boy to amuse. it was bulky stuff so could have done local i spose but just wanted it to go. Would have been easier for me to just get it in the car and take to the tip which is half a mile away at least i wouldnt have to wait for someone to say they may come it would have been gone the same day.
Defo going to tip this week. Dont even care if the workmen get rich pickings.;)

trouble is with charity shops round here is there is no parking they are on a busy main road and it is impossible to park and unload. The nearest car park is about mile away and i cannot lug bags and boxes down to the shop. If Charity shops made it easier for people to drop off they would receive alot more items.

I know what you mean, we don't live in town so I would have to pile stuff up and wait until we go, which isn't very often to be honest. And they won't let you leave things outside anymore, some of them aren't open on Sundays..although don't some of them collect? I think British Heart Foundation do, although furniture has to have the fire label on it etc.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Some of ours will collect esp if you have quite a bit, it may be worth giving some of them a ring and see if they do - I know the YMCA and British Heart Foundation do in my area0 -

i know one does collect but you have to wait for a van to come into the area last time i had to wait 3 months. had to store it all in the garage but it got a bit damp etc due to it being winter :rotfl:
