Freecle / freecycle and balloons on sticks

Hi
My wife is going away in a few weeks to see he family, and is taking our 26 month old son with her. Her family live in the southern hemisphere and although they are quite affluent for the country they live in, the majority of the locals are very poor as it is a third world country, and baby caqr seats is not a thing what 99.99999% of the population have, in fact about 99.9999% of the population dont drive, but the other 0.01% of the3 poulation that do drive drive quite fast and there is no control measures like over here, as a lot of people know, just take spain for instance, the majority of people dont bother with car seats there and where my wife is going is a lot worse than Spain for accidents and the insurance that your family will be ok out there on the roads. So I am really quite worried. I cannot afford to buy a new car seat, so unless I can get one from here, I will have to give here the on that we have in my dads car, as we are both full time students and don't currently drive. However if I take that one back annd give it to her to take with her, my dad won't be able to take his other grand child in the car while she is away.
Anyway I hope someone can help and offer us one
Thanks
Regard
so i'm confused a) is she driving?? b) what do they currently use c) if you can afford a holiday - you can afford a car seat.
**rolls eyes**loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
RE the wanting nappies - I still have a terry nappy left over from when my oldest lad was a baby, he is 22 now. They made excellent rags.
(Its been in my toolbox for a long, long time).
I have some from when I was a baby - great for mopping up any spills etc, and I'm, eerm, the wrong side of 30
Had a good experience today though - to accommodate my growing family we needed some bunk beds so put the old bed on Freegle - it is a single guest bed and I stipulated that it had to be collected toaday - had 4 responses and just plugged for the one that said 'Is it still available, I can collect Sunday Thanks' (or along those lines)
Chap turned up, and took it away - going on gut feeling it has gone to someone who genuinely needs it - and didn't mess me around to boot
Makes you feel all better inside - gone to a good home, and saved me a tenner from paying the council to take it to the tip0 -

Makes me so mad ! I wont be stung again any stuff goes to the tip ! it was good quality stuff I could have sold on :mad::mad::mad::mad:
If the weather where you are is anything like it was here, maybe she decided to wait until the weather's better, rather than risk paying the pitch fee and having to pack up early.
Or if the stuff was good, maybe it was stuff she could use herself & has given a donation to the charity.0 -

Try reading properly the next time, the answer to your second question was in the postThe truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

But what do they do when both children need the car seat in this country?I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.0

I really can't see why some people are getting so irate about what people ask for on Freecycle and who gets their stuff!! Presumably the stuff you advertise is stuff you don't want and would otherwise chuck?? If not, do something else with it, otherwise you have got rid of it, which was presumably the purpose?? If people want to ask for all sorts of expensive stuff, so what?? They might get lucky, if not, well, no harm in trying! If it annoys you so much just don't look at it - life's too short to get stressed about the small stuff!0

Are we keeping a runny tally of people who completely miss the point of this thread? If we are, someone chalk up another0 -
For everyone that thinks badly of Freecycle like some of you I can find 2 more that think it's wonderful.
Someone gave away a good laptop near me yesterday, only needed the OS reinstalling.
No balloons have been given away though0 -
I'm waiting for my sofa to be collected, hopefully they will turn up. If they do I also have a chair if they want it, a few throws & cushions.
Nothing wrong with any of it, just managed to buy myself a wonderful ercol suite 2nd hand at a bargain price & this needs gone by tomorrow afternoon.
I love Freecycle, Freegle whatever ours is now.
But do find some of the request funny.
Someone posted on ours earlier, they were STILL wanting a freezer urgently.0
