    ohh lol, this is brilliant..........
    Hi everyone,

I have to offer an old piece of tree trunk which VERY closely resemble the lower half of a male torso, (if you know what i mean). It is quite rough around the edges but the thighs and the middle bit are quite distinctive. We were going to buy a couple of those large pot boots to stand it in but never got round to it. It is very heavy so a vehicle would be needed for collection, although it is small enough to fit in a car boot

    If anybody interested please email.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

There is a very similar ad to this on my local group, it keeps getting reposted every couple of days tho
Re-posters who ignore the '30 day rule' on our local site tend to be tutted about in the forum section. If the repeated 'wants' are excessive and hack off the regulars, our mod acts, and we don't see them again.

Do other fc sites run forums? I should add that the main objective of our forum is ask / trade information that does not belong on the fc site, such as 'Need a reliable plumber' or 'How to remove chewing gum from a wool rug."

ETA, on the shopping front tonight, from the same poster....

    "Wanted. Xxxxxxx : quad bike
Has anyone got a quad bike working or not working, I'm happy to travel."

    "Wanted: petrol generator. Xxxxxxx
My garage has not got any power and I really need to do some work out there but
it's too dark and a petrol generator will fix all my problems."

I now officially give up. Friday I posted an exercise bike, I had a response in minutes (one of the usual tall tales of illness etc) but decided to wait for 24 hours and asses all replies. On Saturday I offered it to a lady who didn't bother replying at all so another 24 hours later I offer it to the original sob story who tells me she will collect at 12.30.

Surprise surprise, no show. 5 minutes ago I received the usual email telling me how her child had to go to A&E etc etc.

I replied with 'Sorry, item has now been donated to local charity shop' and first thing tomorrow I shall take it there myself.

Thats me out with FC now. It's not worth the hassle. I could have dropped the thing off at the charity shop on saturday morning and been done with, instead its been cluttering up my hallway for 3 days because I tried to do something decent for someone. No more I'm afraid.

Well we do and I will quite often refer a member there if they try and post something against the FC rules. I have to say though that 99% don't bother to post on the cafe site even if they were "desperate" on the main site!

It just makes you mad, doesn't it - I have some things on offer at the mo (having a mass declutter) and one of my replies was 'I am interested in ***** plz {sic} send details' Unfortunately she is the only one replied for that particular item but I am going to really bregrudge offering it to her. It is just the presumption for some people that the item is theirs

I too am getting past the point of caring -but I just can't chuck perfectly serviceable stuff in the bin - all the bones in my body won't let me do it :(

I gave up on Freecycle a while ago, because I was sick of ignorant people, no please, thank you or just giving me a phone number to ring or asking me to deliver!

Now I wait till I've got a chunk, and one of our Charity Shops picks it all up. At least I know those who want it buy it for a reasonable price, it keeps it out of landfill and the Charity Shop makes some money out of it. (I use a Stray Dogs Charity Shop).

  • I have just offered a frame tent on freegle. I stressed how bulky and heavy the bags were, and still I got 2 women who said "I don't drive but am on your bus route"! In the end I waited, and gave it to someone who already had a frame tent, but needed something bigger.
Freegle is my last resort - too much hassle from greedy/rude people.
