WANTED
Looking for 2 x 2 seater brown leather sofas.
Thanks.
Must be 2 x 2. Must be leather. Must be brown...
Isn't DFS always advertising a sofa sale for just this type of item?!0 -
I've been following this thread for a few weeks now, and really cannot believe how cheeky some people are!
The thread above about Ebay is particularly bad, asking for something for free when someone is after selling it is really bad!
Ours can be really bad, asking for cars and the like but some of the threads on here, has left me totally gobsmacked!St. Francis said: “A man who uses his hands is a laborer. One who uses his hands and mind is a craftsman. He who uses his hands, and his mind, and his heart is an artist.”0 -

Hi. Need table and chairs for single mum and 3 kids Please. Anything but plastic."
If it came down to sitting on damp grass or a tatty B&Q plastic lawn chair, I know which choice my ar&e would thank me for.
There does seem to be a lot of people 'shopping' on fc lately.0 -

So many people reply with sob stories that they can't all be true. Which makes you question any of them. And there's no way to verify them.
For me, then, someone replying with a made up sob story will go further down the list than someone who just asks for it.
I used to specify no sob stories - because they invariably chucked in using their kids as emotional leverage why they should get the item - and at the time, sat in the aftermath of umpteen miscarriages - it just rubbed salt into the wound, peed me off so I was never going to give to them - so I just used to say point blank that I wouldn't read or respond to them to save wasted keystrokes and me getting upset. And yes, 90% of them are utter lies anyway.
Today someone wants all the plants for their garden... and the lawn to go with it!
Think the scrounging is killing our local group off to be honest - the activity's died right down, all the genuine offers are staying away and it's just become a list of wants - garden centre services and I didn't know I was pregnant at present.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Lol, I love these posts, on mine the mods have a notice to say no sob stories, so don't get as much of a laugh0

well I've been away since Monday - got home today to around 500 freegle posts (I forgot to take the notifications off). Bearing in mind I am a member of 2 groups so a few can be duplicates (but there weren't many). There were:
240 offered - 8 received, 100 taken
164 wanted including (from different people):
3 x working laptop,
outdoor garden toys for children,
dj equipment,
2 x microwaves,
a 2 seater black leather sofa to match their 3 seater,
5 bikes (2 adult, 3 child),
2 x PS2,
2x working printers,
cooker,
fridge
freezer,
washing machine,
baby clothes,
2x fridge/freezer,
conservatory rattan/cane furniture,
chest of drawers,
2 lawnmowers,
garden bistro set,
slow cooker,
tefal actifry,
washer dryer,
2x child tents and 1 adult one,
But I think this was my favourite:I am looking for toys and games to suit ages 5 - 16 yrs. Board games would be great, as well as lego/paints/pens etc. For the older ones I am looking for wii and play station 2 games and accessories. Also things like a decent football, tennis or cricket set, outside toys/games.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

There is a very similar ad to this on my local group, it keeps getting reposted every couple of days tho :mad:Am not a total newbie, I lost my previous log in details after taking a very long break from this site :embarasse0 -
Chopsie&Chelvis wrote: »I had a childrens item listed on ebay recently, starting at £20, was already up to £30 with 4 days to go, when I received a message from a woman with a long sob story about being really poor, various disabled children and sick relatives and so could she have it for free and 'u wud av to deliver' because of [blah blah, sick partner or 3 legged dog or some nonsense]. Wouldn't have given it to her anyway, but especially not after seeing her feedback from buying multiple items of clothing, shoes, games etc ...
Thought about pointing her towards freecycle, but I think there are enough of her type on there already!
I hope you forwarded her message to Ebay? It's very much against the rules and could get her banned.I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.0
