  • has anyone had the request for gas bottles and gas yet for the cheap gas bbq people get before finding out the gas is gonna cost them another £30-£50

im surprised these allowed as i would of though these would be classed as a hazardous material
  • pinklady drives me mad too. today the collector turned up 45 minutes late "I got stuck in the football traffic"..... you don't say.... in this part of town - on derby day with both teams playing 10 minutes from my door?!

atarisrocks we seem to get those requests 365 days a year.

Yes my sister was tempted to get a nice cheap gas bbq but when she heard the price of setting it up with a gas bottle £40 she decided against it. She wouldnt dream of asking one for free though who would give it away when you can get money back on it for taking it back to shop !

Make £200 by end of January... £20.42/£200
Grocery Challenge £200 pm Jan £0/£200
January no spend days - 1/31

When I tried to get money back on gas bottles I couldn't because I didn't have the original paperwork. They wouldn't even take them free.
I moved into a house where the people had a collection of about 12 bottles in the garden, all went on freecycle. The gas bottles, not the people.

And if she is doing that to you then likely she is doing the same to dozens more.

Your Mods SHOULD take note and stop this kind of bullying.

Why not send a reasonable message (Hint, Hint) to her then forward THAT plus her imminent nasty reply, to ADMIN (And forward it to the owners email address).

Also add a note that they will lose freecyclers like yourself if people like this remain on the group.

Nice one Rizla - the movement needs more mods like you as, as can be seen from this thread, a lot goes on that shouldn't and some mods do nothing about it.

when I was active on freecycle I used filters in my email to remove emails from folk who had previously messed me around, serial liars/scroungers etc and flip side of that reliable freecyclers - who were polite and turned up when they said they would.

Keep up the good work Rizla :T

Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying

In theory yes - but what realistically can we actually do? I'd love to hear some ideas.

The only power the mods/owners have is to put a user on to moderation or ban a user from the list. We can't stop them emailing another member direct or if banned from rejoining under a different email address and user name.

Blocking by ISP address is theoretically possible with the Firefox freecycle plug in but is pretty easy to circumvent and very much a blunt instrument. You can end up banning large swathes of people who use the same ISP due to the way they are often assigned.

By all means notify the owner - we can and do ban but ultimately if someone is being bullied or threatened then they need to either block the emails of the harasser or if it is serious enough contact the police.
  • WANTED: Used 235/70 R16 Tyre

My 4X4 is getting long in the tooth and very environment unfriendly and has
to go. I had to buy it to pull my caravan which I will be also getting rid
of. I am looking to sell it soon and get a car which is not such a gas
guzzler. One of the tyre is getting close to needing to be replaced. I did
not want to go to the expense of getting a new one which would set me back
about £100. I would very much appreciate it if you maybe had one tucked away
in the corner of your garage and wanted rid of it. If you have one for me, I
would be happy to collect at your convenience.

    Thanks for reading this post.
