I believe anything offered has to be appropriate for all ages.

I wonder how they're planning the anonymous handover?

Dead drop - John Le Carre style. Just hope they don't pick somewhere with CCTV camera coverage or we could see an embarrassing incident.

I misread that at first. Thought you told me to "drop dead"!
Wondered if it was you who offered it in the first place and weren't happy that we were taking the mick...

    Summer's here!

The first "I'm looking for an entire camping setup" post of the year... granted at least it's not the usual "I've booked a camping holiday despite not having a tent" one.

This freecycle malarchy is certainly gonna be my last experience.

Offer an item - lady gets offered it going to call yesterday between 3.30 - 4.00 as I know I am home as have a meeting at home. _ WEDNESDAY

Lady does not turn up - later that evening get an email to say sorry i didnt call but forgot your address, can i come tomorrow ? THURSDAY - Thursday is the day my son goes to nursery and doesnt finish til 3.30pm. She says between 3.30 and 4.00 pm again. I email back saying wont be in at 3.30pm wont be home til 3.45 (takes me 10 mins to get home from nursery).

Dont get a reply so assume she has received email - bearing in mind it is her fault she didnt come day before.

Fast forward today she turns up at 3.20pm early - hubbie just got in through dog hasnt a clue what she is collecting (i dont tell hubbie what I get rid of)

he phones i am caught in traffic late for nursery pick up and we have blazing argument.

Lady walks off with item - bad atmosphere at home.

Needless to say my experiences of freecycle have well and truly put me off.
If i ever get lucky enough to be offered an item (rarity nowadays) i always ensure that i am there at the alloted time.

Some people say i am being pedantic but when you give something away you expect people to collect when you want it collected and not when it suits them.

How frustrating, pinklady. Not sure, though, why it caused an argument between you and your husband, though!

I agree that the person getting the item should arrange collection when convenient to the donor. Unless it's something that generated little interest and would be particularly inconvenient to dump, in which case I'd be happy to arrange to be in when convenient for them!
