  • Got one this morning, Problems with the picture. They are sending someone to fix it (if they can). Better service that with the Technosonic PVR 101 but that depends on the outcome.

hmmmmm, why is everyone so enthused by this product? yes, its a 40inch screen but you can pick up a Samsung 42 inch Plasma IDTV with Freeview PS42D5SD for £1,194.99 on various websites such as duck.co.uk and you wouldnt have to queue for hours outside an Aldi's store as they deliver for a very reasonable £3.95. I am not poo - pooing on a parade but I am curious

I have to agree a bit and (in some cases) the public humiliation of having to camp outside an Aldi waiting to get one is worth paying an extra couple of hundred quid to avoid in my book.

if you use the code from the discounts board you should get another 5% off taking it down to £854ish and then buy it through https://www.quidco.com where you get another 6% back it'd be £802ish.

The main thing is for me is that before I fork out serious money I want to make absolutely sure I get not just a bargain but a brilliant TV as well.

The Viewsonic at PC World and Currys sounds a great buy until you read some quite disappointing reviews about it.

I don't think that is the same model is it?

The spec seems different, weight - contrast etc.

I doesn't include the wall bracket(they charge £299 to have that fitted) Also not clear if it has a 3 year warranty.

I was in Aldi this morning - buying the 32" model for a friend for £499 - and the manager said they had an allocation of 4 of the 40" model, which went within minutes of opening.

Knowing Aldi they will have another batch in before Xmas and they'll be another £50 or £100 cheaper.

Haven't got mine attached to the wall yet, and it was a bit annoying having to change the factory settings from German, but I can its very much better than my old telly. Just been watching Star Wars on DVD on it with the kids and its an amazing picture. I'm so glad I didn't spend £2k on a similar spec one before the world cup.....

Given the VIEWSONIC N4060W has PIP (Picture-In-Picture) I find it hard to believe it hasn't got 2 tuners even if it doesn't say so.

Apart from that even if it doesn't have 2, if you're buying it for HD, Sky, Cable, DVD, Freeview DTT etc.... , then it hardly matters and anyway, in 2 to 5 years time the 1 or 2 tuners will cease to work on both this TV, and the ALDI one, when the analogue signals are turned off !
