    Hi folks

    You remember Ian Huntley?

He had been accused and interviewed repeatedly about his relationships with a number of under age girls. The police could not do anything because the girls refused to tell them that they were having sex. One did but refused to make a statement. Consequently he was never charged.

If a girl is over 14 years old, however much her parents say, unless she admits to the police that she is having sex with someone and agrees to make a statement, the police cannot charge the male with any offence. I believe that she can only make a statement within 6 months of the incident as well. This is why some men stick to those who have had their 14th birthday.

There is another recent thread where the mother persuaded her 14 year old daughter to make a statement, leading to police action. Without that statement, the police could have done nothing.

What an awful situation OP, I really feel for you. It is not important how old the man is, he is over 18 and groomed a child. He now is being allowed access to another child when he should be on the sex offenders register.

Do the police really not do anything to prevent grooming, does the !!!!! actually have to have sex with teh minor and the minor admit it to the police? This man needs to be stopped. I assume that the child abuse liasion officer or whatever their name is was contacted when the older DD had issues and social services. I would be contacting allsorts to get this stopped.

Personally I would contact the NSPCC and find out what can be done, this man is a !!!!! and needs to be stopped.

You say that the police did not act previously because the DD would not admit sex to them, that is appalling and I would not have stopped there, is that not grounds for a police complaint. Seriously contact the NSPCC and tell them everything.

hold on how do we know he groomed the girl it could have been her idea you so quick to judge when youve only got the ops point of view and it seems he does not see his daughter that often as it is (perhaps he's jealous )
Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you

    James

Why do you think that the most useful thing you can contribute is carp likethis.

You honestly think that a child could be encouraging on a 60 year old man. the man should know "hang on this is a child, not ok" .Or does it not work like that in your world.

Again, as ever your comments are totally inappropriate.

Dont you have anything else more productive to do than post carp like this all day long on here?

It matters not whether we know that he groomed her, he was an old man having sex with a child, he knew it was wrong.

You know, the comments you are making on this thread are really making you sound like you have peedoph!le tendancies yourself. If you really cannot see what is wrong with a man of that age having sex with a child parents with teenage girls living near you should be seriously worried.

Phone the 14 year olds school, see if you can talk to her form teacher or head of year about your concerns, they may be able to give you the support the mother is not. This will also alert them to take note if there is any changes in her behavour when they return and examine any other behavour patterns she is already showing that might be of concern. I would hope they could point you in the direction of the right people to be able to help you with your concerns.

I think calling the NSPCC is a good idea, as is calling your local police station and asking them for there advise (you may get more help this time), as well as social services for advise.

I don't understand why the mother is not as concerned as you, are the grandparent this man was friends with her parents? is this something she has been brought up to believe is normal/acceptable behavour?

Are people seriously suggesting that men should be charged with p**philia based purely on the statements of disgruntled parents? And that the child in question should have no say in the matter?

It seems like most people are saying that. We have a situation where a child tells their parents they had sex with someone, but won't tell the police the same thing. What are you all expecting the police to do in these circumstances?
