hold on how do we know he groomed the girl it could have been her idea you so quick to judge when youve only got the ops point of view and it seems he does not see his daughter that often as it is (perhaps he's jealous )

He groomed the girl because she was a minor and he was an adult. It is irrelevant if it was her idea - he is an adult and as such should not have had sex with her. You are just being a troll as any right minded adult would see this for what it is. It is not a 17 year old lad with a 153/4 year old girl. It is a child with a man old enough to be her grandfather.

Troll somewhere else and get your sick kicks out of some other thread as this is an abhorent and very serious issue.

Please OP don't let this rest and if that means contacting social services etc. then do so. Have the sex offenders laws not been tightened after the Ian Huntley debacle?

I think you highlighted the wrong part of the quote. The more important part is the "but wouldn't tell the police". The girl either lied to her parents or to the police. Who can tell which time she was being truthful?

The girl did not lie either to her parents or to the police. She refuse to tell the police.

Having been involved with a similar situation, if the older man has been careful, the girl will know that as long as she says nowt, the police and her parents can do nothing. That particular man had a history of involvement with girl who were 14-16 and explained that he liked them younger but they were too much of a risk because other people could report to the police and the girls refusal to make a statement did not prevent legal action.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

I thought it odd, that my married 40yr old neighbour has befriended all the teenage boys in the area but this situation seems much worse, the father has my empathy, also OP please ignore jamespir, no one knows what planet he is on.

Oh, OK, so the police shouldn't have bothered to even make enquiries, just incase the girl was lying to her parents. Yes, mustn't offend a potential sex offender, just incase she's lying.

so if that was true the police would have had him for having sex with a minor they dont think that it is true hence why they dropped the charges

did you not read it properly the op said the daughter admitted sleeping with him at 15 so yes it was true

No I don't believe I have got the wrong end of the stick. But there are two separate issues here, regarding the older child and the younger child. Both of these issues hinge on whether or not the gentleman is a sex offender - and that cannot be proven unless either a child admits to having sex with him, or unless he's witnessed acting inappropriately.

What a strange use of the word "gentleman"!

Presumably the police did, quite rightly, make inquiries, but didn't find anything concrete enough to prosecute.

The police aren't the body who decides on whether or not to prosecute someone - that's the CPS.

James, you need to step away from the computer and have a good talk to yourself.

And if the OP decides to report you for your offensive remarks, I think it would be more than reasonable.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

I thought that was an awful accusation to have made but hoped the OP hadn't noticed.
