Scottish Power is bringing out a lowest tariff, which existing customers will not automatically get unless they request it on - 0800 400 200 (free call). It comes out as top in the energy calculators and is called online energy saver 4. It starts on 15th June but you can go on the list for it now, and will save even more on your Scottish Power online bill. I pay about £70 a month for both fuels and this will reduce my bill by about £70 a year without switching my supplier. Happy saving

Hopefully this is helpful to current Powergen customers.
I used U-Switch to seach for the best deal a few days ago. The bes saving was using Powergen (or E-on) with a different tariff (Energy Guarentee Version 2).
When I phoned up to change to this they said I can get an extra 6% for having an on-line account i.e. statements sent by email. I believe that the U-Switch comparison did not indicate that this discount was available. Note: the on-line discount is in addition to the 3% duel fuel and the 6% Direct Debit discount. The link to register is below;

After registering call Powergen to transfer your account to the on-line account and get the extra 6% discount.0 -
Keeping it short. Following Martin's article I applied to switch through moneysupermarket.com to Scottish Power. I received MS.com's acknowledgement and a reference number. Heard nothing for some weeks. Contacted Scottish Power who had no record of the request. Emailed ms.com to query on May 17th. No response at all by today. 16/6/07. Have now Emailed them again today.
Is this an isolated case or has anyone else had a similar problem?

Hi there
After reading Martins email the other week I thought I might as well have a look at Switching Gas and Electric, however this was before I had heard of the money back idea.
Well to get to the point I went to Switch with Which I input all the reading and my current supplier Scottish Power came up the cheapest for me at this time.
I phoned them up and took on a new Tarfiff and saved a huge £127.30 just by swapping to a new tariff.
Admittedly they had a price reductin a few days after but if you dont think its worth looking in to it this is the proof!!
Ive told all my family and friends to look in to is, many of whom are still with British Gas and Npower.
Im so glad of this website and the Weekly emails0 -

But did you calculate the actual saving for yourself? i.e. compare your annual kWh consumption multiplied by the new and old unit prices. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Can you get cashback from Quidco refering Energyhelpline in the same switch transaction?
Just did a comparison on elec (we dont have gas) am currently with npower, annual consumption 12389kWh per yr
Switching to Scottish Power possible saving of £391pa so am looking to switch. I have a Quidco account, how can I get maximum cashback/saving?0 -
Hi Youngy !
I am wondering the same thing ! I see Energyhelpline will give £15 cashback if you switch through them, but I also have a quidco account where it says you earn £13 cashback for switching via the quidco link ! Is this on top of the £15 from Energyhelpline ? Can anyone help ?0 -
I was just looking at that exact same thing!
I presume you can get both cashbacks as else why would they offer their services on Quidco?
Has anyone actual done this though successfully?
I also note that Powergen are offering £50?0 -
Hi Wilkin,
UKPower have been in touch to offer to help sort this out. If you get in touch with me I can provide you with the contact details for the Director who has offered to look into it.
Regards
ArchnaMy advice at present is avoid ukpower as I am having terrible trouble getting my £20 cashback from them after switching back in Feb - they won't even reply to my (numerous) emails!
As there is no contact phone number given I am completely helpless.
Has anyone else had problems getting their cashback? If so, how did you resolve it? (incidently the switch itself went through OK)
Thanks v much0 -
