Isn't that what you have done?

Happy for you to show a link to the highway code showing a mini roundabout in the normal T shape as is being discussed.

    Substantiate your claim.

When taking the first exit to the left, unless signs or markings indicate otherwise.

However, it's possible to put exactly the same observation in... and then indicate anyway. Theres no disadvantage to (correct) indication, IAM etc teach this to make sure that you will ALWAYS observe whats around and where they will be going, ever time.

Just because the IAM etc recommend it, doesn't always mean I think it's correct - i.e. engine braking / heel-toeing.

FTR no, I haven't done any "advanced" driver training over pass plus (but i'd like to when i'm not quite so poor...)

Yes, I argued the same point myself.

However, it could be said that if you indicate unnecessarily then you are not observing very well, as you would have realised there was no need to indicate if at all ;).

And I'd still give the argument that unless you are 999.999% certain you have missed nothing, even that 110mph biker in you blind spot then "wasting" a signal can prevent an accident. I know thats an extreme way of stating it but the points made. ;)

People cause accidents by making mistakes, I believe in try to minimise that by observation and signalling :)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

It can actually requires more thought and awereness to not indicate in some instances as some people do take the easy way and just indicate regardless, showing a lack of awarenes of whats going on around them.An easy trap to fall into in the comfort of a modern car
I agree that mindless indicating isn't necessarily a good thing. However, being both a driver and a pedestrian and being married to someone who is an HGV driver, a motorbike rider and a bicycle rider I try to alway be aware of who is sharing my space. I will still always indicate even if I can't see someone who needs to see my indicators because I am very aware that there may be other road users who are in my blind spot - even if that is someone just waiting to ride their bicyle out of their driveway.
